rear cf lip installed

heres the install of the group buy rear cf lip from this thread
Rear Lip Group Buy - Pics - Contact Info
what i thought it was going to look like...

below are the pics. believe me, i am very disappointed in the finished product for a few reasons but everyone wanted to see it installed so here it is. the cf is wavy, its not cut straight, and the piece is as flimsy as a piece of paper.

enjoy... (or don't)

I was curious to see how it was going to look in the little exhaust tunnel, dont like how you can see the red, wish they would have went deeper in.

By the way, like the powder coated rims, for sale by any chance?!

i was hoping it was going to extend the length of the bottom of the bumper and cover the exhaust cut out as well... the way its on there now theres an edge underneath that can catch air and blow it off. maybe that was a "get rid of the ugly rear lip the easy way" feature the designer added?

p.s. no rene the evo IX rims aren't for sale...

It might be a POS product as for as the manufacturing process but it does look good to a certain extent. I'm not sure if it's because you have the CF wing or what but it doesn't look half as bad. Definitely not worth the money though. Maybe another company can duplicate it but with better quality manufacturing this time around.

you guys serious? these responses are def. not what i expected. i guess these pics do it too much justice, gotta see it in person to see how bad it really is. if you look at it straight from the back the top of isn't even cut straight across if you compare it to the license plate mount. looks very cheap imo.

i guess im glad everyone thinks different about it though.

No i agree you can see the bad quality cutting...and there are ripples...I would want something more substantial...basically a little beefier.

Wow that looks like ass. Yeesh, sorry man. Extremely poor finish, looks bad, and of course not even close to being functional (unless its function is ballast), though function was only a remote possibility when they "designed" this piece (from what I recall them saying in their pre-order thread).

Hmm, this is making me second guess getting one. Judging by the photoshopped pic, I was extremely pissed to miss the buy. I can deal with ripples and waves since I planned on sanding it down and painting it a textured flat black (don't like CF). The unstraight cuts up top bother me as I can pick that out right away; but I guess I could trim that down too since I wanted rounder corners. What gets me is that it is as flimsy as a piece of paper??!? Could probably do better with a roll of carbon fiber tape from Pep Boys.

I might be better off just taping off the shape I want on my rear bumper (straight lines and rounded corners) and just spray some undercoating or textured flat black on it making sure to go completely under the exhaust tunnel and bottom of the rear bumper.

Hopefully the production pieces will fix this.

BTW, cool job with the spoiler Corey...very EVO-esque.

Wow the quality looks pretty sad, especially since its not cut straight. For some reason I was thinking the ends would be a little more rounded like the photoshopped picture. I am glad I didn't jump on the group buy, and sorry you ended up buying a low quality product.

i was gonna say, how can you not see that? im going to rock the thing for a few weeks (if it holds on there that long) since i waited 5 months for it. then put it on the shelf as conversation piece and as a reminder not to buy something that hasn't been produced before.

hahah. i wasn't expecting function i was expecting more than pep boys quality though...

agreed but i do have to get my money/wait out of the thing so ill leave it on for a week or so... im just glad i used JUST 3m tape, not the push in tabs like the manufacturer suggested, then id have holes in my bumper...

you might as well take a stab at making your own rear lip man. you'd have the pride of knowing you made it yourself, probably save some cash, & it wouldn't take 5 months to get either.

thanks for the spoiler compliments that things my pride and joy, better pic of it in my gallery

It looks like the right side is slanted down, you can see the cut marks on top of the piece like it was cut with a jigsaw, its wavy, doesn't look anything like the pictures they portrayed to us in the begining. man that sucks. I'd say take it off.

Doesn't surprise me.

I bought CF layed fog bezels from them. The inside is covered in resin that I will have to sand away and over all they just don't look great for something that cost me over $100. I'd complain but after waiting a month and a half just to receive them, I won't waste my time.

Yes, very glad I decided to stick with the exhaust shield over this, car looks good though bud

This doesnt surprise me either, the fog light covers you can still see the dimples of the holes plus the gas door carbon starting peeling off that I had so I threw the red back on.

i took a trip to little ceasars to get some pizza and i was embarrased to drive my car, thats the first time since ive owned it ive felt like that. that big cf sticker thats cut cricked is def. coming off.

I'm still waiting for my lip. I'm still going to hold my opinions till I get mine in my own hands. One thing I would say is there are still a lot of people that want one if these, so you could probably sell it.

The tHing that is bugging me right now is the negative remarks about 386's other products. Where were these comments when all this started? I'll admit, I didn't research their reputation. But I wish people would have chimmed in with these comments, to correct possible issues with the rear lip. It seems like the problems match somewhat to the complaints about the lip. If these things would have been brought to the groups attention, we could have asked 386 to ensure these wernt issues.

So all in all, I still like the look. This will be the only "bling" purchase I've made for my car in 3 years. I jumped on this looking towards the rear diffuser, which is ultimatly what I want for my car. My fingers are crossed that yours is a fluke.

WOW! that looks like if someone just started cutting rectangular pieces of carbon fiber and shipped them out to whoever paid for it.... looks way different/cheaper like the one they posted on the silver eclipse. good thing i didn't order one.

I wonder what 386 customs has to say about all of these negative posts lol.

Funny things is that 386 customs advertised this as a Carbon fiber Lip even though it looks more like a Carbon fiber cover.

By the way thats a great looking CF wing man, liked what you did with it

I didn't like this stick-on "rear lip" idea from the beginning, but I was hoping for the best because so many invested into it. I don't like stickers on a car, ruins the clean lines. IMO, you're better off doing what others do to the front bumper cover, just paint it for the same look you'll get from this expensive "sticker."

It looks exactly like what it is... a cheap CF overlay.

A cheesy simulated carbon fiber stick-on vinyl film would look better (but please don't do that either).

negative, there is nothing. the manufacturer (or the guy working out of his garage) suggested push tabs and 3m tape. Im not sacrificing my $550 2gb bumper with fresh paint on it for a cf piece that looks like its worth $15. I just used ALL 3m tape so after i installed the damn thing i could quickly remove it and use goo gone to get rid of the evidence. if you want pictures of the install ive got those too... just let me know.

agreed. theres a cf place down here on the border that makes good cf and sells it on ebay for a good price. me and the dsm buddies who bought this POS lip on the group buy are thinking about taking it down there and asking them to make a REAL cf lip.
