Which wire should I tap so that I can use the dimmer switch for the cluster/hvac/dash lights independently? Right now I grounded the negative (black) wire to the bolt on the left side behind where the cluster would be and the positive (red) wire into the fog light switch.
Unfortunately when I try to use the dimmer switch my indiglo gauges will flicker then cut off (not enough power?) while the needles and cluster lights brighten. I can turn it back down and the needles/cluster will dim while my indiglos will light back up.
I read the VFAQ and searched to find out which methods are being used:
-Dimmer Switch
-Cigarette Light
-Parking Light
-Fog Light Switch
I've heard that it isn't recommended wiring to the stock dimmer switch, so I probably should avoid that route. I only want my indiglo gauges to light when I turn on the fog lights/headlights and not be affected by dimming the cluster lights/needles...I want to use the switch that was included with the gauges to dim/brighten and change the colors. I'm going to get some pictures up this week of the car and my new gauges.
Any input would be appreciated; these gauges look awesome btw...
