Ok let's try this one.
I slam the drivers door shut and the window sounds like its gonna bust.
Is that normally the end rails on the window that are bad?
Thanks

yeah i have he same problem. when i shut my door i normally put my hand on the top of the window and guide it under the lip of the seal so it will shut properly and not sounds like it is going to break. still dont know why it does it though

Atleast on the 2gs, they have a similar problem. The guides bolted to the door glass that run on the guide rails get worn and there's play in the glass (it can wiggle relative to the tracks). Also, there are adjustment screws at the top of the door body where the glass comes out of the door that you adjust to snug them up against the glass. If they're out of adjustment (get worn), when you slam the door, the glass or something bolted to it slams against something in the door body making the nasty sound.

But that's on a 2g. There's a tech article for it...maybe there's one for a 1g, too.

+1 on shutting the door with alittle pressure on the top right edge of the window while closing, I have the same problem. And also have to roll the window down alittle when I close the door from inside, or else it doesn't clear the lip :(...But doing as stated above will decrease the chance of breakage, until you get it lined out...

I'd check the track guides. There's a fork/guide bolted to the glass that runs on the rail, and it can come off the rail. This cocks the window such that it interferes with the weather stripping on the top of the door opening under the drip rails. If you pull the panel off the door keeping the power window plug connected, lower the window about 2/3, you can see where the guides bolt to the glass. Make sure the forks are on the track.
