Painted them Graphite today...oh man it took me sooo long to do, thank God they have junk tires on them, didn't have to tape em off or anything. Oh man I feel like crap...Waaaaaaay too many fumes. I have Graphite boogers.

Now they look like crap, was taken with my camera phone plus the tires make them look like crap. Please give me some positive feedback if you like them. What eclipse did these come stock on?

I think they look good i have always liked that color. They will look good with your white car. What kind of paint did you use?

My car is actually some kind of weird pearl silver color. I used duplicolors rim paint...
Started prep by wiping the surface with a rag, then 320 grit, then more vigorous wiping, then color then clear. Thanks for the compliment :)

I used the same gunmetal paint on mine but mine are on a red car and they are bangin. I to used the normal clear coat and they came out ok. Did the paint look thick or kinda clumpy when you look at it real close.

I was there talking you through your rims remember? You used gunmetal or graphite? I used graphite..and yes it caked up like gun powder type stuff but it wipes off with a cloth and i did that before clearing, came out very nice. I don't have my car but hopefully when I get it back they will be going on.

Next time, take some 3x5 index cards and slip them around the circumference of the wheels between the lip and tire. Insta-mask.

I practically invented that trick LOL, not really but i've been doing the card thing for a while now, these tires are all trash, gashed, slit, open belt all around...didn't care if i painted them LOL.

now what do you guys do abotu removing paint from the rims?

mine are painted black, (came like that)

and i wasthinkgin of using some paintstriper on them to remove all the paint. and the OEM powdercoating, will that work for the PC?

all the way to bare metal, good idea?

If it were me i would get some high grip sand paper and sand the living hell out of it till it scrapes off all the paint and leaves it bare.

Wow looks very cool man. They remind my of the ones that were on my GST. Oh and those wheels came stock on 2gb GSTs I believe.

Actually what you can use that is VERY effective is AIRCRAFT STRIPPER. There's a great brand at advance auto called Tal-Strip. comes in a spray can. Just spray it on, let it sit for about 10-15 minutes and just wipe the paint off. I use it anytime I need to strip a valve cover, wheels, basically anything metal. DON'T use it on any plastic as it will eat right through it and crap it up. Also, it'd be best if you got some mechanix or latex gloves on when you're using the stuff. Honestly when I use the stuff, I let it sit on the rim so long that it actually dries completely. Then I just use my air compressor and blow all the paint flakes right off. It seriously works awesome.
