1g dimmer on 2g??

ok heres the deal
i have been trying to fix my guage light and tail light problem
i know its the dimmer switch ive tried fixing it with other switches but it dont work
ive tried grouding the black and yellow wire ... nothing
fuses are good
so i had a thought
why not try it with a 1g
i know the plugs are different but its the same three wires so can i just switch em?

im really lost i dont know what to do now.. this is my last resort...

any suggestions would be appreciated

That doesn't make sense, if you have changed the switch without any luck then It's probly not the switch.
