I have a 200watt amp laying around, sony xplode. Wondering if I can wire it into the stock 1g radio?? I also have 2 6" in a box. LOL all I need really. Not to inclined on radios, engines is a different story.

^^ care to explain how he will use it. he said he is not inclined.

well, if you will be sticking with the stock deck.. dont know why anyone would when you are going to use aftermarket anything else.

you will be using the high level inputs (aka tapping onto the rear speakers) of the amp. because its the stock deck and there are no rca outputs to use the low level (rca inputs) of the amp.

so im assuming that sony amp has high level inputs, if not you will have to get one of those converters that make some rcas for you by tapping speakers..

so just tap into the rear speakers either way, for the amp turn on, tap that to ign, so it will always turn on when car is on, or however you want to set that up. maybe with a switch so its not always on, up to you.

you'll be good to go.. by many the above is considered the ghetto install, but with your limited equipment, that is the only choice you really have.

he has a 1g, not a 2g. and even if it was a 2g, the stock amp wouldn't be sufficient to power those speakers he has. even deck power provides more cleaner power than the stock amp. so you can see how much of an improvement it will be either way.

Tap the amp into my rear speakers or my two 6's in a box? I want to power the other speakers I got, does the amp also improve the rear speakers quality too.

the setup i gave you was the assumption that the 2 6"s you have serve as "subs". so yes the amp needs a signal obviously, and since you have a stock deck you don'[t have RCAs so how else are you getting a signal for your amp except tapping to the rear speakers.

you cant power the other speakers, unless thats a 4 channel amp or something. or you relaly just ghetto rig everything.

My 2 cents: Save your self time and a wiring mess diy project. Find someone to buy those 6's and the amp and use the cash for a nice set of rear speakers. You will have less weight, more room, less stuff shifting around as you spool around corners, less electrical problem/questions later, and you won't have to answer everyone's dumb question "what size are those speakers".

different strokes for different folks, who are we to try and get someone to not have an amped speaker system. if thats what they want to do, its not a bad thing so why go against it.

my thing is he doesn't connect it all ghetto and at least buy a cheap deck to truly maximize the audio performance. he has an amp and speakers, why stop and keep the stock deck. and yea instead of those 2 6" speakers in a box, get rid of those and get a real sub.
