It's 9006 for the low beams and 9005 for the high beams. Although you probably won't want to buy the high beam setup just because if you plan to flash your highs at anybody it's really hard on the ballasts that power the HID's and won't last you very long. The 9006 low beam kit is bright enough at night where you wouldn't need HID highs anyways.

Also remember that once you add an HID setup to the low beam socket of our cars that you won't be able to use your highbeams to flash anyone w/o possibly straining the ballast of the lowbeam unless you run the HID's all the time. Reason being is because when you flash someone without the lights on, both the low and high beams fire. This can be changed by redoing some of the headlight wiring or changing your lowbeam setup to a DRL like AzDave did to his car.

Good luck and just make sure to take care of your HID system once you get it.

Keep in mind that just putting HID bulbs into your stock housing is not the proper way to do it. The beam pattern will be uneven and have a substantial amount of glare. If you want HIDs, the right way requires putting in projectors from a car that had them originally.

I'm not arguing that the proper way to use HID lights is to have projectors but I've seen a lot of people put HID kits on cars that don't have projectors with absolutely no problem. In fact, a lot of my friends who have done it say it's much easier to see dry and wet with HIDs. I have ridden with them before and after and it seems much better. I have however heard that in some states that it's illegal to have HIDs on cars without projectors, the reason being, the projector lens actually projects the light in a pattern that isn't in oncoming drivers' eyes and without the projector, the HIDs are too bright to other drivers. If you notice on most projector lights, the beam (when shined on a wall) has a very noticeable horizontal line across the middle. The light above the line is much dimmer than the light below the line i.e. keeping the brightest light below the line of vision of oncoming drivers. About whether or not to get the HID kit for hi and lo beams, only low beam HID is necessary. Check out almost every car with factory HIDs and you will see that the hi beam is a regular halogen and only the low beam is HID.

Not all cars that have factory HIDs have projectors. For instance, the 04-05 STi has a reflector housing and I believe the second generation escalade also has reflectors. The difference is that those housings were designed for those HID bulbs. Most HID bulbs are physically longer and that upsets the beam pattern.

I have a zentec 6000k hid kit (plug and play) and i LOVE it. Takes 2 minutes per side to hook up or remove and it looks GREAT.

Hubbard is the most correct.

Putting an 'HID kit' into a reflector type housing will yield no-where near as well results as projector type. This is also the reason these kits are widely illegal, as they blind oncoming drivers due to a non existent cutoff line. You want HID's? Get the HID housing to go with. There's also retrofit kits to look into. First take a look around the net on this subject and then make an educated decision.

Thinking of converting to HID?

For safety's sake, do it right.
