I broke the shifter cover. As i was going to put it in drive the dang thing got stuck. So i was mad  and ended up with it in my hand i cut the overdrive wires  Will now i dont have the cover but it goes into gear. so i am gusseing there is something broke in the inside of this pos. Do you think it would be alright if i drive the car with out that? I pinched my dang finger too:cry: What is the purpose of it anyhow?

I almost bought a 99 Green GS with an Auto Trans for my ex fiance... and the reason I didn't was cause of the trans... Compared to the 5spd, there is no power to the wheels. It makes it feel gutless!

What if you add power hmm. The only thing i hate is from a dead stop it takes a while to pick speed, but once it goes oh oh oh get out of the way!!! Some one told be to put a bigger tbody. Wonder what that would do?

A bigger tb is going to do nothing unless you bore out the intake manifold to match the size of the new manifold and even then its useless if you aren't flowing more air into the throttle body or if the manifold and head are not bored enough to let the increased amount of air pass through into the cylinders. I've had a nt and a turbo and the nt is the farthest thing from fast.

The shifter knob or plate are not going to cause any problems if they are broken, except cosmetically. As long as you have it in the right gear you will be fine. If you broke the overdrive wires u wont be able to switch between overdrive and drive. I can't remember which one it gets stuck in when you break the wires, I think overdrive is off which will cause you not to have a 5th gear and rev higher when at high speeds thus burning more gas and have a lower mpg.

or you could always just run the wires to a simple toggle switch.
