use a little flathead screwdriver, stick it under one side and carefully pop it out. its real easy, if you look close there is a tiny notch in the plastic in the middle where you can pry it out.

Are you talking about prying between the clear lens and plastic assembly or the assembly and the headliner? I also have been having trouble trying to get to that bulb. Feels like the whole thing is going to snap.
