Hey all. So, I'm going to fiberglass my headliner with some cool things going between the visors. I'll be relocating my sunroof open/close switch for this. On to my question. Could you simply apply resin to the headliner material itself and then glass over it? I've considered doing this since I've heard about the headliner warping after fiberglassing it out of the car. Can anyone confirm this or would it be OK to remove it and proceed from there? I've heard people say they didn't have problems as well. These are really my big questions for now. I'm sure I'll add more questions down the road along with pictures of my progress as time goes by. I appreciate the help from all of you out there who contributes.

my suggestion would be pull the headliner. then get yourself a roll of 100% cotton, i got a huge roll of it from walmart for like 25$. cut out a piece of cotton the size of the entire headliner. apply the resin like you were talking about doing to the headliner material itself. then lay the cotton mat on top of it. you'll use quite a bit of resin though, cause you'll have the resin over the cotton mat as well. it will be sandwiched in between two layers of fiberglass resin. then go from there. the cotton mat will hold up great like this. ive done several custom sub boxes like this, always worked good for me.

good luck, im sure its gonna be a pretty big job.

Awesome. I appreciate it all. I'll post some pictures once I get it going.

If the project fails, and you decide you want to buy one instead of fiberglassing it yourself you can look at www.topshopheadliners.com, they make fiberglass and carbon fiber headliners. - Just a suggestion.

topshop looks to have some good stuff. im curious as to if anyone has purchased from them? and the quality of their products. price is high but if quality is good than i'd be interested in some of their stuff

Oh, I have no doubt that they put out quality stuff. From the looks or their gallery, it looks like they do. However, I'm going to be hacking up the headliner in between the visors so I can install some electronics and bring out something new; at least, something I've never seen in a DSM. I think it'll be pretty awesome in the end, but I can't say what it is until I'm done and you can see for yourselves. Nothing monumental, but cool nonetheless. I'm really appreciating the feedback guys. If anyone else has any tips as to actually fiberglassing the headliner, that would be great.
