I was helping a buddy push his talon into the garage when I open the door and discovered mold everywhere. Its really bad there is mold on everything. The rear seal was split. I was trying to figure out what our options are. I was thinking we could strip the int. and toss it and he could either run it as a gutted drag car or we could do a int. swap. Does mold just gorw on the surface or could it be inside the seats? I did search this topic and I did find a few answers. I just wanted to see if there were any other people on here that have dealt with this same problem and might have some new information. My buddy is getting married soon and I really want to help him get his car fixed and clean for the summer. Thanks for all your help in advance.

Toss the interior dude, mold and mildew will get into everything. Grow all the way into the middle of the seats... if it's humid enough to grow on the surfaces, it'll almost be certain to have gotten moist enough down into the core of the seats.
Get it out fast enough and the smell won't rot in. Leave it in too long, and the smell will get into the metal itself.

I agree 100%. If, after you pull the interior and the odor still resides, try cleaning with Vinegar. If that doesn't get it, find a detail shop with an o-zone machine.

You can also strip the interior and strip or re-paint... a new coat could seal the smell into the metal, but nothing's gonna get rid of it completely if it's been in there too long. Have to cover it up with air fresheners and crap, which will suck after a while, and still smell funny to top it all off.

strip it all out ASAP then wipe down the whole interior with bleach. You need to dilute the bleach with water but I forget how much just check on the bottle.
