In my search for body kits for my own 2G Eclipse I have been dissapointed with the body kit options out there. Almost none of them are in good taste and entirely over the top. So I have been in search of a manufacturer willing to fabricate custom body kits for our cars. Prices however, are unreasonable for any single buyer and simply too high. The purpose of this thread is to find other members looking to do the same and too get input as to how we can make the custom kit better.

I located a sketch of a visual kit based on the GT2 racecar concept and it looks extremely beautiful. However I think all the visual features here cant be in the final kit, so Im hoping we the potential buyers can find some way to alter it to meet our needs. Below is the sketch along with the statement regarding groups purchasing custom kits and a link to their website.

Custom Body Kits

START A GROUP BUY FOR A CUSTOM BODY KIT
WE CAN MAKE ANYSTYLE KIT FOR ANY CAR...
Thats right, we make custom body kit (s) for any car, and any style you choose, we are a body kit and spoiler manufacturer. Your shop, or you can start a group buy on any message boards/groups, and the orignal starter who organizes the group buy, and decides on a style body kit, it could be anystyle ,will get a really really good deal on their kit for their car.

Info on the custom kit:

Each group buy has to be the same style kit, and the same years
All we need is 10 pre-orders of the same custom kit you choose $675.00x10 people with the same car, and want the same design kit (that is a complete kit!) add shippping is paid upon delivery FREIGHT COLLECT. (you dont pay for shipping upfront, you pay for shipping when your kit arrives) we would need to ship to a business address (any business address will do , like your work, or a body shop)
After we get the pre-orders, we would need a sponsor car to prototype the kit on in CALIFORNIA, of course the sponsor car will get a FREE Kit, but first we would need the pre-orders and the group buy organized and pre-paid before hand. (please do not email us for sponosrships for this)
After the group buy is complete, allow 5-7 weeks for us to make the kit, and we can ship the kits our after. We do not make custom kits for one car. we only make custom kits for group buys of 10 orders minimum. email us for inquiries regarding group buys for a custom design bodykit)

sorry maybe i failed to understand... how is that drawing not overthe top? This company would make a hood, fenders, and quarter panels all for 675? What other designs has this company made? i would want to see some kits they have already made

well thats what Im addressing here...as nice as this kit looks there are too many features going on here. Im also concerned that the company would not be able to recreate all this for that price so I wanted opinoins on how to best create a kit that would mimick that style and yet still be affordable and clean.

If I didn't know any better, the design was taken from the Saleen S7 (except for the hood).

I could literally build that kit myself. BUT, I don't have the car nor downtime available. Other then that, I really could make that kit out of fiberglass. Also, you would need alot of materials. But, I could do it...

I like the concept but it looks like a 13 piece widebody. Which is alot of money for production costs and R&D for the company producing it. You may need another, more practical design.

Yeah, but you have to admit, if the product really did look like that itd be a really sick body kit, i have to agree that youd need a more practical design, theres no way youd be able to get a 2g eclispe to look exactly the same, you have to cut the frame alot to meet the same dimensions.

Also, anyone in the Art or Industrial Design field would know that the concept drawing seen above, wouldn't work exactly like that on a physical vehicle. He's taken some liberties drawing that car, including but not limited to the proportions of the vehicle, not including the kit on top of it. When I get back on monday, I'll show you what i mean by sketching out the same kit on a proportional 2G.

all right...but can anyone point out where dimensions of the car limit the kit's features here? Any suggestions on how to simplify the kit and make it more practical a build?

I can picture everything but the hood. With the height space our engine takes up, the hood will not be able to concave sort of speak.

I like everything but the Evo lights in the front and the spolier and the hood as well. That sketch is cool though

Ok ill search for a manufacturer that can produce custom polyurethane kits which are much more durable that any fiberglass pieces.

So the hood is out any widebody pieces are also out along with the spoiler.

I dont want to be the voice of reason here, but is that kit practical? We all need to sit down and draw up a CLEAN, reserved yet different kit...Ill make my contribution soon
