I'm taking a factory amp out of a vehicle that I installed an aftermarket radio in, but the aftermarket radio ( pioneerdeh6800 ) only has 4 channel outputs for speakers. I have 6x9s in the rear, 6.5s in the front and I'm also wanting to run tweeters. Can I just run the front speakers and the tweeters in parrallel off of the aftermarket headunits front channel outputs, or how does this need to get done? I don't want to replace the front speakers with an entire component set, I just want to add tweeters. Thanks!

The tweeters need a crossover. The crossover should be matched to the two speakers (6.5 and the tweeter).
There are electrical component values in the crossover that are designed to work WITH the speakers.

It's not done, but I was writing this to help some friends with their 2g audio install:

I've been in and out of 2g car audio its fun to me.

EnticivEclipse.. how did you wire up your aftermarket deck? Did you use those harnesses? If so yes you wont have dash speakers anymore. I would just get the MITAH adapter as I mentioned in that guide I wrote. You will have our stock 4 channel amp powering your speakers and the dash speakers will work because the xover is in there.

Or if you truely believe your deck will powering your speakers sounds good, then wire up a set of crossovers under the seat where all the speaker leads are.

I couldn't stand all that, I got a 4 channel amp for both my nice car and the beater. But between using an aftermarket deck or stock amp power the speaks, I would go with the stock amp. Let your ears be the judge, not the price on your deck.

excellent write up bro!

BTW I had to hardwire my aftermarket deck which left about 3-4 wires not connected.

Now if i get the Mitah connector do those 4 left over wires need to be connected?

Which 3-4 wires were those? Basically, if you get the MITAH adapter, the only wires that ARE GOING TO BE CONNECTED, are power, ground, the yellow one, and the blue remote wire. Just like if you were to install an aftermarket amp and outputting the sound via the RCAs. Same concept, except your aftermarket amp, will be the stock factory amp.

No need to rewire anything else, dash speakers/tweeters will work. You can cut the speaker leads coming out of the deck now, since the RCAs will be outputting the sound. Having them connected shouldnt be a problem though. That seems to be how stock wiring is. Stock headunit to the harness, and yet another output via proprietary wire to the stock amp, similar configuration.

Theres another way to have the dash speakers work, as I mentioned in that guide I believe. This will have the deck powering all your speakers, its purely subjective on what you hear is better, the stock amp, or new deck powering your speakers. You will need to do a bit more wiring, so if you are lazy or don't plan to learn the workings of the 2g audio stuff, just get the Mitah adapter. But the process is simple, you just put a passive xover inline the deck leads then connect those to the harness for the stock amp. Simple stuff, its fun to me now. :)

hah it was a dumb question...i should of known the audio cables would by pass it...

damm i havent worked on audio or cars for so long...

thanks again... i will be getting the mitah for now even though i have aftermarket amps laying around in the house
