Hey Guys, I am having some issues with my new Viper alarm system coexisting with my Eclipse Factory Alarm. I have an earlier model Viper alarm installed on my 97 Eclipse by Audio Express and needless to say it was total crap, I took it back to them on 5 yes 5 seperate occasions that which they blew me off and told me that the problem enlies with my factory system. The problem is that when i arm my Viper system the factory system wont arm. Heres the weird thing though, when the drivers side door is open and the passenger door is closed and i arm the viper system it will also arm the factory system, i know this because the green security light comes on on the instrument cluster. I bought a wiring diagram and checked all of their wiring and it seems to be in the right place. I'm lost and need help!!!!

Also just recently the L.E.D. Indicator Light on the dash has not been reseting, i put the key in to the run position and the dam thing still blinks, even with the car started it still blinks.

Thanks DSMer's.:dsm:

i have had some issues with my viper alarm (factory alarm goes off) but its a newer model it maybe have to do something in the wireing, any one can help us out?

Hmmm... I thought that an aftermarket alarm would be installed seperately of the factory system and have no ties with it.

Sounds like they didnt hook up the factory arm wire coming from the viper alarm. And as for your alarm led not reseting you may want to pull the bottom of your dash apart and find the yellow wire coming from the viper alarm and make sure its hooked to the BLack/white stripe wire or the blue/black stripe wire that are coming down the steering column and they are a heavier gauge wire. And if it hooked up check to see if it has power when you turn your ignition on because that is what resets your viper alarm

Thanks guys for the replies. I will check the yellow wire, thanks bluetlr2001. Does anyone know where the arm and disarm wires are for the factory system? I have the harness for the factory alarm now and was wondering what wires are which. thanks for the help.

Heres a web site thta will tell you were all the wires you need for the alarm are. but coming from your viper alarm you will need the factory alarm arm and disarm wire. And i believe the colors are light green/black stripe and the other is green/ white strip depeding on which model alarm you have.

Just look up your model car and it should have the factory arm wire and tell the location.

actually i just went ahead and looked at the site and it has the disarm wire but not the arm wire so i looked on our site we use at work and the factory arm wire is green/yellow stripe and its located in the drivers kick panel or the drivers door boot. and it will show a negative output when you turn your key in the drivers door.

Awsome bluetlr2001, Thanks for your help, I used to work for Audio Express for about 6 months but they did some questionable things with their installs and i didnt want to put my name on something that didnt look or function like it should. I checked the yellow wiring today and it is in the right place, the start kill works perfectly but the alarm just wont reset itself, i have a feeling that the brains have a problem so im going to contact viper and see if they can just replace the brains. Thanks again for your assistance.

Viper has a lifetime warranty on there brains. You might want to check to see if the yellow wire has power going into the brain. It may be going into the starter kill and not leaving the relay.

I used a meter and am getting a little over 12 volts from the yellow wire when i turn the cars ignition to run, when i turn the ignition off I get zero volts. Hey since i bought the viper system off of the internet and installed it myself will viper still honor my warranty? I read that you have to have the address and name of the place where I got it installed. Could I just tell them that I worked for audio express therefore i am a professional, or do you think i'm SOL? Thanks for the help once again.:dsm:

I just finished installing my viper 791xv alarm and when I armed it the factory security light also came on. Then when I disarmed it the doors unlock and I opened the passenger's door and the alarm went off. From another member's input, Instead of using the OEM green/white wire for alarm disarm and green/yellow for alarm arm, I used the brown/red (-) for disarm from the passengers key cylinder and the red/blue (-) for alarm arm from the passenger's key cylinder found from the passenger's door harness. My question is; do these wires not work? Also, I found two green/yellow and two green/white wires in the drivers kick panel but none seemed to return a voltage when I turned the key in the drivers cylinder. I have a 2g eclipse.

I just went outside again to look in a different spot for the green/yellow factory arm wire and found a wire to the left of the fuse box in the cabin and it still didn't register on my volt meter. Does anyone know the exact locations of the green/white and green/yellow factory alarm wires in a 2g eclipse?
