for those of you with carbon fiber hoods, how do you keep them clean??? mine seems to get a static charge (from wind i'm guessing) and dust just clings right to it. does anybody have a remedy to fix the static electricity?

I dont have CF hood yet, but I was told to get it clear coated to protect it from fading, etc. I'm wondering if you have yours clear coated, if not, perhaps that would have solved the problem?? I'm not really sure, just a thought.

i was thinkin i read that VIS hoods dont need a clear coat since they already have one? not sure if that sounds right or not but that was my understanding. i know they already have the UV protection coating so that shouldnt be a problem.

I think your right, I wasn't aware of what hood you had, so I just posted my thoughts. I'm getting an Extreme Dimensions hood, so hopefully I dont have that same problem. Hopefully someone with a ViS hood will post their recommendations.

I have a VIS oem style cf hood...lasted a while then faded pretty bad, but i got it recleared from a hook-up of mine ( my dad )...looks brand new except for a couple little stress scratches/ cracks...nothing you can do about that/

is clear coat the answer though? i dont see it helping with a static electricity problem, but please correct me if i'm wrong

well I took the car to my body shop today and they told me they didnt think it would help much with the static either. maybe i should be asking if other people have experienced this problem that i am???

wipe it down with a static cling sheet on the underside of the hood. probably every other day or weekly. sounds dumb, but i'm NOT joking. had a customer with a similar problem, and he told me this did it for him. if it does NOT work, don't blame me. i heard it from a customer. i have no experiance with it. sounds odd to me, but worth a shot since its free. i think his were fiberglass fenders. same difference though i suppose.

Pick up some Finish Kare Ultra Slick Poly Wipe Spray Detailer (Anti-Static) (#425)
It's a quick detailer that has great anti-static properties. I love the stuff.
