1g antenna question

Has anyone replaced the factory antenna on their 1g with a black "Euro style" antenna? you know one of the screw on ones from ebay like this one : http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Euro...33639QQitemZ8029621749QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

if so does it still get good reception? does anyone have any pics of it on their car? any input on this would help im thinking of getting rid of the big antenna on my car....thanks

Looks cheap, I wouldn't get it. Six months from now the wind will have that thing bent backwards and it'll look hellishly tacky.

When I bought my old 91 removing the big whip was one of my first projects.I hated the look of it on my smooth wingless rear so I bought a small billet one and rode around with it for a few months but it looked bad too.If you're wanting to do this for looks alone I'd advise shaving the antenna completly which is what I did and couldn't have been happier...I'd rather have a primer spot than an antenna anyday.

You can get amplified antennas that mount to the top of the windshield or you can even throw it under the seat depending on what stations you wanna pull in,that way there is nothing on the car and they're around $20 at auto parts stores.

My opinion on the "walkie talkie cat dildo " antenna......looks horrible.

If you know someone who can weld,have them cut you a small circle of mild steel and weld it in there,grind down the welds ,slap some spot putty on it,sand it down,and prime it.
