91 talon factory radio help

i have a 91 talon tsi with a factory tape player and EQ, recently the EQ stoped working , and now you dont hear anything out of the speakers. i bought a wire kit to install another deck, and i get it all hooked up and still no sound , i have power but no sound i dont know whats going on ? i need some sound

i bought a wire kit to install another deck

now by deck do you mean a new head unit/ receiver like an alpine or sony. or did you just replace the part that you thought was bad.
