I pulled my crapped out fog light switch and replaced it with a $1.99 black rocker switch I got from Radio Shack. Perfect fit and actually looks better than stock IMO. Anyhow, I ran the 2 leads so that I can run fogs without headlights on. Now the fogs don't go off when you put high-beams on but that's no problem. What I'd like to do is run fogs without having parking lights on. I guess I can run the hot wire to a fuse that's always got juice but then I wouldn't have a buzzer alerting me when I forget to turn them off. Any sugestions?

Jack into the ignition wires, there should be one or two that are hot when the car is running. Use a relay in conjunction with the switch off the ignition wire, you dont want to go blowing your ignition fuse by overloading it when you leave your fog lights on and try to start the car.

First off, a search will do you wonders.

Secondly, check out the www.vfaq.com

has many wonderful how tos complete in most instances with pictures and diagrams.

VFAQ says having this mod with after-market alarm that flashes parking lights has been known to cause problems.

I think I might try the ignition wire instead.

The switch works the ground to the foglight relay. It's supposed to run on to the high beam switch, which is supposed to re-interrupt the ground path when the high beams are on.
To have the fogs work all by themselves, just run power (preferably switched, so you don't leave the fogs on with the engine off) to the coil side of the foglight relay, and the other side through the switch to ground. And, fuse the circuit on the supply side.

FWIW, I just ran the power liine (green wire in #2 spot) to the heater relay. Works like a charm. I just leave my fog light switch in the on position and have daytime running lights. If you hook up to the right spot they will turn off automatically with the ignition.

This sounds good.

Where is the green wire located that you're talking about?

The green wire is on the plug for the foglight switch. It is plug #2 right next to the big red wire in the #1 spot. :thumb: The hookup is the plug on the right hand side of the relay socket. If you hook up a tester it should only get power with the ignition in the full on position. The relay I'm talking about is above all the fuses under the dash.
