Ok guys, as you can guess from my thread name.. I am trying to get racing seats into my ever loving 2G Eclipse...

My seat broke, so I came across these OBX ones CRL01BG http://www.obxracingsports.com/interior.cfm?catID=4&subcatID=4 and can be viewed there

I searched and found a website with the brackets that seem like they are the only kinds they make for a DSM. so couple of questions for you guys...

they have 2 kinds the
a. flat style

http://www.gmpperformance.com/index.cfm?PG=detail&PID=106375

b. the tabbed style

http://www.gmpperformance.com/index.cfm?PG=detail&PID=77555

So I want to know if they will fit, and second issue is about clearance. I heard that Race seats tend to sit higher, and the tabbed ones seem to also make them sit higher, so will that be a problem and I should go with the flat style. Or I am totally an idiot and get the tabbed style.

Recommendations are all appreciated,

Thank you guys.

If you feel like doing some fabricating I just made brackets for one of those seat styles and worked hard on mounting them as low as possible. If you can wait a few days I will take some exact measurements and do a write up. If you already have the tools it'll cost you a few hours of work and $15 in steel & bolts.

Tools: A cutting wheel (I used a Dremel), good quality drill bit and a tape measure along with some wrenches.

I used a piece of rolled 3' x 2" x 1/4"? steel and a few bolts along with the factory brackets. I cut off all the angle brackets on top except for the one for the shoulder belt guide. I then did some measurements and laid two pieces of the rolled iron across the sliders and bolted them into place and then bolted the seats to them. The seats and sliders are just rubbing the carpeting on the center console and barely miss the drivers side. I'm 6'4" and needed all the headroom I could get. I still ended up pulling the headliner and I'm putting in a custom one for the extra inch I need to get a helmet on.

I'll try and take some pics and measurements soon. I plan on doing a VFAQ when I get a chance. Best of luck whatever you choose.

Unless you're a dwarf and can't see over the door sill, get the flat. I'd doubt you could make your own for $45 a throw.

That bad eh? hahaha I am asian after all... LOL But anyways... do you know if that bracket will fit the seats there? anyone..

I thank everyone for their quick responses... I don't feel like fabricating anything... have you seen me with a screw driver and socket? You'de understand, so lets not see me with a torch.... But thanks for the great ideas.

As long as you already own the tools the rolled steel was $6 and you only need four bolts with a small pile of washers for spacers per seat. I bought a driver's side seat bracket for $25 at the junk yard so I could build a final version. If you use the original brackets you can do both seats for $15-18 total. :thumb:

I can definately understand not wanting to do the fabricating though. It is a pain. I'd say just call the company that makes the brackets and ask them if they'll fit. Before making mine I called a company about brackets and they knew exactly what chair it was and quoted me around $125 a piece. WTF I probably spent a total of $60 trying two different setups of my own and saved about $190. :rocks:

Wrong. My Sparco seats with Sparco bases and sliders, sit lower then the stock seats. I also have the Sparco tab brackets attached to the Sparco sliders and the tab brackets attach to the Sparco seat base.

TenzoR Racing seats are awesome.
I've heard from so many people that the Tenzo's fabric fades, and is just not worth the money.
If your going to spend the money then do it right the first time and buy Recaro, Sparco, Bride or Charge Speed.
