i did it a while ago but the center piece kinda started to melt... plus somehow the center piece cracked so i took it apart... its not hard at all tho
 
simple. i did that to my old car. like i read, mine got mighty hot. so i drilled a few holes on the backside of the cover to vent it out. and to make the lights work, just splice the brake light wires and throw together some bulbs and voila.
 
Its not a problem if you use the right stuf.You cannot use bulbs cause it will cause the effect with spots..Use a LEDbar that goes all over the centerpiece..then you have it all red..no spots.I know..I did it on my car...looks great!
