Ok, while trying to sort out a problem with my radio, I was rooting around in the center console and found a small rectangular box that says "Audiolink" on it. It has 4 or 5 wires coming of one side(which I haven't traced yet) and on the other side it has 2 RCA jacks labeled "L" and "R". Is this factory or did the person before me have a system in the car?

That's not factory. Any more information on the box? Sould like it's a box to convert regular speaker channels to RCA outs.

He probably had a sub in the back.

I'll look at the box more on my break in an hour and report back with more info. My stereo and speakers always worked fine I just saw the box and went WTF

He probably just spliced into the speakers to get the signal to go to the box. When you trace those wires, they'll probably hook up just behind the deck. You can remove that box with no problems.

What stereo issues were you having?

Well since the box is there is there anything I can hook up to it relativeley easily or is just better removed?

Well, if it's still hooked up to the system you can use those RCA's to hook up an external amp. If you have an aftermarket deck that has RCA's, those will be better to use. Those RCA's will have much better sound quality.

Ok I checked it out some more.

It's a Powerlink II-High Level to Low Level Converter. It has 5 wires on one side 2 RCA outs on the other side and 2 little power level adjusters on another side.

As many stereo gurus as we have on this site and it took this long to answer? :)
It's an in-line converter to run an amp with a factory deck.

Why you have it, I'm not sure.... trash it.

Thanks, I'll trace the wires and uninstall it as clean as I can.

They connect to your speaker wires.... You can just cut them and end cap them off, the 5th wire..... I'm trying to remember what that goes to but it's not working out for me.... I want to say it's your amplifier signal wire, but I'm not positive. Same thing with that though, cut and cap. You will not have any problems associated with it.
