the upholstery thing (roof lining? the carpet area on the roof? i'm not sure what it's called) on the interior on the roof area of my gst was falling apart. it wasn't holding together, except for the edges so it was just hanging like a blanket on my head. my dad wanted to redo it so he just ripped it all off, and today, we just bought some polyester material from wal-mart and some spray can thing to hold it together. i'm wondering, before we do this, would this work? has anyone done anything similar to this? anyone have any advice?

thanks for the link. another question, is it really necessary to remove all those things? seems some-what confusing. could i just possibly rip out the main headliner area and replace that area with new materials?

Do it right and it will look like a pro did it. And you wont have to worry about it for a long time.. Do it wrong and you'll wish you took the time to do it right.. I did mine start to finish in about three hours.. This includes wating for the glue to dry..
Dont rush through cleaning the liner.
And dont buy a cheap adhesive. Use what is recomended... :thumb:

I just replaced mine on my 91 talon tsi and it was actually quite simple. My headline actually measures exactly 36 inches or 1 yard. So I went to Wal-Mart found fabric I liked measured it at about 1 yard 6 inches only $6.86. Then I got some elmers kraft compound in a 11 0z bottle for $1.67. I also recommend buying a cheap fabric hair brush. After you remove the old liner the glue or compund that was used for the last one will be all over. Use the brush to brush all the old compund off. Make sure absolutely make sure you leave and extra inch all the way around. Works like a charm.

I suggest using a cheap highligher I got a rosa art one for .39 pennies and use it to trace around your sunroof if you have one as well as your dome lights. Makes the fabric a little darker where you need to cut and can't be seen afterwards.

Also I screwed up when I did it and didn't mark where the holes for the visors go. So if you want you keep your visors use a marker to mark the holes to put them back on. Or if not they look nice covered up and left off :thumb:
