Hi,

I will be changing the tires of my Eclipse GS Spyder 1996 and I am looking for the best choice. I am located in Whittier, CA and it is pretty much summer all year long so I want some high performance summer ones. I have stock 16'' rims and the ones I found on eBay were:

1. 16" NEW KUMHO 711 ECSTA TIRES P225 50 R16
(http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ViewItem&rd=1&item=7977759294&category=66474)

2. 16' 'NEW NEXEN ZR TIRES 205/45/16
(http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7976404847&category=66474)

I was wondering which ones of these two are better and could you recommend me other better models for my stock 16'' rims. I heard KUMHO are pretty good tires but before that I have never heard of them. I am located in Southern California, would there be a better place to buy them in place or eBay is the best buck for the value?

Please advise.

Thanks,

Svetlin

I personally have no experience with Kumho's but have been in cars with them and they seemed noisy and rough riding, nor did they have a lot of grip. That other brand I've never heard of so I'd get some more info before buying them. I just purchased the new Hankook Ventus RS-2, I ve only had them on for a week now but so far they're great. I did considerably better in autocross yesterday with them, and wet traction is excellent. Mine were $90 a peice for a 215/45/16 so they're not too far off in price from what your looking at.

I had Kumho's tires on my old car 98 civic hatch. ride good and the price is cheap, but if u want the better kumho tire just spend a little more. i had the kumho ecsta. ride nicely for regular driving, doesn't grip as well, overall it's a good tire for daily driving.

What specific models/brands can you recommend me? I could not change my wheels so the tires should be for 16''. Do you think Bridgestone ones are a good choice?

I have Toyo Proxies, it feels like a completly different car than the goodyears that came with my car. They were kind of pricy ($400 for all four with mounting ect) but not as bad as everything out there. I'm a fan of them, the car feels alot smoother and I have alot of grip going through the corners. Back never slides out... not sure if that is a good or bad thing. :D
I have alot of understeer too... but that's what an FF gets for you.

If your willing to fork over the money the Bridgestone Potenza SO3 would be the way to go. Those tires do everything great but they're expensive.
