Im lookin to purchase a PS2 and install it in my 95 Eclipse... I'm planning on getting a 7" monitor and mounting it into a custom fiberglass housing which will replace my passenger airbag.. I want to hook my PS2 up to the monitor and also hook into my car cd player so i can use the PS2 as a dvd player and listen to the movies over my car's sound system.

Is this possible? Does anybody have any recommendations / setups / requirements for what I would need to do this? Like what cables do I need? What do i need to make sure the monitor has? Would I hook the PS2 to my cd player or the monitor to my cd player? Specific monitors to purchase that would be good for this?

Thanks for any input you can give.

you should definately be able if you have a/v ports on the back of your reciever, what you do is hook up the video connector (yellow thing) to the monitor and then the audio connectors (red & white) to the recievers a/v ports if the reciever doesnt have one well you cant do i then.

heres pics of an alpine reciever

ok see red and white hole the red and white connectors from ps2 go there.

the monitor hooks up to an s v-video port that looks kinda like what you plug your mouse into on back of comp ( shown next to red hole)

and then you can plug your yellow connector into the monitor if it has a hole for it or if the reciever has a yellow hole there, either will work.

Turns out I had to buy a new Deck , cuz mine didnt have the right hookups.. I went with the 05 Kenwood deck / receiver.. I like it alot. Also bought the 7" monitor today.. Got both for $515 after bargaining at Boomer McCloud's. Now i just gotta get my Power inverter and the PS2 and ill be set.

I was lookin forward to getting the Slim PS2 till today when i found out it opens "UP" instead of "OUT" :/ ... Kinda defeats the purpose. Maybe ill just get an xbox and build a custom case like under the seat or something so it fits better..

If anybody has an pics of their setups ide like to see it . Thanks.

they sell a ciggarette lighter plug specifically for the playstation 2..... sony makes it and u can get it @ walmart.. cheaper then an inverter :D

Oh i didnt know that... but i didnt wanna plug the ps2 into my cig lighter.. its already kinda overloaded.. yet that is nice to know thanks.

i just did my Ps2, inverter, switch and bass control knob this weekend. the old style PS2 with slide out tray fits perfectly under the passenger side seat in the the little dip that is there but cant move seat back and forth easily (but who cares) and a 7 inch screen is installed in the dash.

IF your radio doesn;t have aux hookups some brands such as my pioneer i had to buy an adapter which converts your cd changer into aux (mine allows for cd changer to work as well) just dont get a fm modulator. your new radio should be good to go.

i drive a turbo and a non turbo and i like good sound and multimedia nothing wrong with that no matter what you drive

I started my fiberglassing today for my lcd screen where the passenger airbag is.. I'll take pics of the progress and post them in here.

well i ended up getting this done rather quickly so I forgot to take pics of my progress but heres the finished product.. Let me know what u think?

Please dont forget that this is the FIRST TIME I've every fiberglassed anything. Or even worked with fiberglass for that matter. Did it 100% on my own :)

Looks really good for your first time, much props. But you definetly have to get rid of the blue trim pieces. :thumb:

HAHA i just heard that from someone else about 5 minutes ago! (blue trim)

looks nice.

might need a little more material on the airbag cover, looks like it shrunk a little on ya around the corners but it coudl jsut be the picture too

I am glad you got "hands on" and I hope you have may great experiences... you did disable the bag right?

hey just read the thread and I am currently TRYING to hook up a monitor/ps2 in my 2g. I have a Pioneer head unit(kinda old p7200, I believe Premier) I have the adapter, inverter, clarion 6.4'' monitor and ps2. Just dont know where to begin. Also, I dont have a cd changer, does this matter? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys

ok:
Wire up the inverter to that battery for positive, with an appropriate fuse. (Older PS2s need a decent 150 w inverter IMO to avoid Humming) and install where you can reach the switch if it does NOT have a turn on lead (under seat works fine). then use the video wire to the clarion screen input. Wire the clarion to accessory power.

now get an AUX in adapter (he 7200 doesn';t have an aux in i don't think) and connect the audio from the ps 2 to it.
When you want to play turn on the screen and and inverter and flip the head unit to aux to get the sound.

sweet, thanks. I do have the adapter cable for the cd player. So when everything is hooked up just turn the cd player to aux and the sound will go to the speakers in the car. This seems simple enough. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again
