Hey what up... So I bought a used hood from this guy parting out his car, and the thing won't sit straight on my 96 Eclipse. I think the guy said it was off a 96 too, but he didn't seem like he knew for sure. Anyway, is there some way to adjust this? Btw, my car has slight front end damage (from 2 accidents by the previous owner), would that be the cause of some/all of them problems in alignment? My hood latch is pretty jacked up, i know that much. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement? And what can I do to get that sitting on straight? I'll take a picture of it and post it up so you know what i mean. Thanks!

The problem with alignment is most likely due to the front end damage that the car has sustained. What part of the hood is mis-aligned?

well, i'll get a picture uploaded in the next day to show what's exactly misaligned with the hood. but the front part of the hood sits farther over on the drivers side. so part of the front part of the hood is actually ON the body of the car. not by a whole lot, but its there.

and what kinda damage happened to the car... okay well, from what i remember, the previous owner said that a truck backed up into the front end of the car (hit and run) so the original hood was crunched up ever so slightly in the front, and the left headlight points down at the ground. then, the second accident was the owner actually HIT another car with the front end. he said he was doing 15 maybe? but that was all with the old hood. the new one i have is perfectly straight, it just doesn't align right with the body. however, i'm going to try and put the old hood back on to see if that one lines up okay. if it does, then i know the new hood is crooked somehow. but i'll keep you updated. btw, all these comments are much appreciated. i'll also post a picture of the hood latch (i think that's the part) so you can tell me if that's damaged too, and if i need to replace it. thanks again yall

here are the pics... also, how do i TELL if my car is crooked without taking it to a shop? is there something I can look at or check?
