Will these Lancer Tails fit my Talon with minor fabbing???

I think these or similar would look awesome in my Talon. Has anyone thought of fabbing them in a 2g.

you can do it. however it is not going to be "minor" fab, it will take a decent amount of time to mold those in considering the stock 2g tails are shpaed nothing even close to that. it can be done, but its not going to be "easy"

Eww. Those won't even look right on a 2g. Good luck. That will take alot of fabication to get those to look right.

trust me, there's nothing "minor" about a tail light conversion. even if they have the same basic shape, (which the lancer tails DONT), youre not in for an easy one day project. It will take weeks. good luck.

I've never actually done a taillight conversion, but from what I understand the process is something close to:

1) Cutting out the metal where your current taillights mount to
2) Cutting, fitting, and welding sheet metal to hold on your new taillights
3) Reshaping of bodyparts and filling them

I've seen some awesome clean conversions, but I've also seen some poor hackjobs where people will just glue in and put huge amounts of body filler around the taillights without doing any metal work :thumbdown

So good luck, I'll support anyone whos gonna do something unique on a talon instead of putting eclipse taillights on em

After looking closely to an actual Lancer I see the major shape difference. I just thought it would be neat to mod some different form of Tails since there are no aftermarket for the Talon (which there should be), I don't nessecarily dislike the Eclipse tails but I would definitely go black with the center. Some of the aftermarket Eclipse tails look ridiculous and just plainly awful. I did however see a 2g Eclipse the other day with Supra tails fabbed in and they were awesome(looked like lots of BONDO used though, section was stil primered ready for paint). I would like to something different when installing an Eclipse bumper though, but I'll probably find a set of good looking Eclipse Aftermarkets with the black, carbon fiber or smoked housing. THe all chrome ones for the Eclipses sometimes look more ridiculous than they are worth, just the design I suppose. THanks for your input. By the way has any one seen a 2g with custom tails that stood out from the crowd, no hack jobs, I love to see peoples inventions. My theory is if your not going to do it right better not do it at all.
