Just wondering how exactly to stop the antenna from going up. Anyone who has done this, how's the reception? Also, can I put a rear window antenna in instead of the flag pole on the back? Thanks. :thumb:

if youve ever took your door panels off before, its kinda like that, theres just a lil plug that u have to disconect, mine was making a funny noise thats why i disconnected mine, but there is no reception at all. but i never listen to the radio anyways

i just took my stock power antenna out and put a aftermarket one that only goes up when the radio is turned on (which is never LOL)

which antenna did you put in, Ive been lookin to do that since i had also tried keeping the stock one down, but as said before...no reception

My stock antenna goes up when the radio is turned on and down when you turn it off. So the reception sucks then? Dont they have those antennas that go on the upper part of the inside of the rear window. I think they have two antennas going in opposite directions from the middle part or something. I think they're sometimes used for those 2 way reciever alarms. It kinda looks like this.

Or there are those little stubby ones that go on the roof but I dont know if those would work.

A lot of cars dont have an antenna at all and they still get reception so there's got to be a way. My 98 Grand Prix has nothing and it stil gets good reception. I've never understood how though.

The 99 should have the "FM Diversity" antenna, where you also have one on the hatch glass.
To disable the power antenna, pull the blue wire from the harness at the radio.
