Regina,
Ok, here it is : Ive got a grey interior which i think i want to make black, well the seats are easy, ive got black seat covers. The fabric shelf/lid for the hatch, carpet and roof however are the more tricky parts..

Do i have to take the seats out in order to get that gross looking, old, matted carpet out? or can i remove and install a new carpet without taking the seats off?... once i had it out i have planned to trace the design onto my new black carpet.

The ceiling (which is discolored from people smoking in the car) needs to be changed, but i dont exactly know how to take that out either or whats behind it im assuming theres some sort of insulation like a fibreglass cusion behind it.. i still have to find a black ceiling somewhere...

The hatch (shelf) is stained purple in spots from where someone's grape soda burst open when it froze as my car was outside.. that looks lovely... NO.. geez this thing is stained beyond belief... i wonder if i could just take the fabric off of it and replace it with the left over fabric from my new carpet.

One last thing, the back seat.. i could run around and try to find a black, backseat from an autowrecker.. unfortunately that is pretty much next to impossible since there are no import autowreckers in my area.

if anyone can give me any kind of help or advice about this it would really help, especially if you've done this kind of thing yourself.. im tired of my interior looking so.. crappy LOL

Peace out

Yes.

Past that, I recommend utilizing the search feature. You can definitely cover the shelf w/ whatever, that's pretty easy.

I'd recommend eBay for the carpeting, you can usually get a premolded piece of interior carpeting for your specific model for around $100.

And with the back seats, I'm not sure....you could probably find some seat covers designed for eclipse rear sets, otherwise, you could just fabricate or modify a cover, if you can handle some basic stitching, or know someone who does, it's not all that difficult. Personally though, if your back seats are gross, I'd just go junk yard hunting, there's enough 2g DSM's taking up space in junkyards to run across something w/ a little time/effort. You could also always consider just removing the back seats, I know mine don't do me much good.

You need to tell me what yards your going to because my and my friends have been to probably well over 20 in the area and found 1 2g, which was beat to hell.

As for the carpet, yea gonna have to take it out. if you can get molds for $100 id do that, im going to look into that once im done posting because my carpet sucks also.

the ceiling, your probably best off just taking someone elses. Either buy one from a parts car being parted on the classifieds or if you do find one at a junk yard im sure its still in there.

For seats you can buy a full set for 300-350 shipped usually in leather. If your wanting black leather its going to have to be from a 97-99 eclipse or the avengers and sebrings have the same interior I think, the dash peices are the same but look into if the seats are.....you also might be able to get them upholstered (sp) for a decent price.

for the hatch just get some detailing supplies. My friend danny used to work at a detail shop and they have stuff that can take damn near anything out. hell you could just get the whole thing detailed and im sure itd look a million times better....I know mine sure would, so im going to clean it all up when it gets warm out, except my carpet because thats damaged.

hope this helped some.

Follow this thread here for some pictures of what you plan on doing.

I redid my headliner using these directions here .

I'm currently in the process of going from all grey plastic/leather to everything covered in black leather including the headliner. I actually had to cut my center console into three pieces and wrap them individually.

Follow that first thread, I'll have updates along with pictures in a couple days.

where are you guys finding 20 2g's in junkyards? i've been to every one locally and found three cars: one base model 95 talon with a ripped up grey interior, and two 97 avengers that have been stripped completely. otherwise its all 1g's.

if anybody has access to a bunch of tan interior 2g's, PM me. i've got business for ya. :thumb:
