I still need to talk to people about a good shop around here but im wanting to ask you guys what your prices were so I know what to expect.

Im thinking about doing a FULL eclipse conversion (sunroof, bumpers, sideskirts, paint) and getting my strut tower area rust fixed. If the cost of doing all this is a lot cheaper then buying a high mile GSX or a shell then I will go ahead and do it. I want a paint job at LEAST as good as factory. a bit better would be nice, but im not going for show quality.

So what im asking of you is, if you had body work done and/or your car painted, post some pics of it and include how much it cost you, and if you can how long it took them to do it.

tell details like if you had a color change, how much it cost to do the engine bay if you took the engine out, detail on the body work done by them and if they just bondo'd it or if they welded in metal and ground it level.

Here is my car, I got it painted couple months ago. I took it to Canada to a guy that I know. He had to put it on the frame machine to alligne the hood from alittle accident on the right headlight. He put the front and back bumper, did the side skirts so the doors close like factory. My car took couple weeks in the shop. I was pleased with the job. I am still going back for buffing and waxing after winter. I paid $2200 for the whole job.
I need some 18" wheels and tires with some lowering springs (eibach prokit). And I might go with vertical doors in the spring.
I have'nt took it out of my garage much. It s still snowing down here. Sorry for the pictures quality, I snaped them with my phone camera the other day.

I did all the body work myself with alot of research...saved alot of cash....and used the difference on a better paint job. I had my car all ripped apart sanded, windows removed and still paid 3k for my paint job. But what it comes down to after I have done 5 color changes already you get what you pay for. I paid 11k for full labor on a color change and the guy did a halfasses job. So when looking for a painter do good for the guy who says "yeah I can paint it" go for the guy who is really interested in your car. I got a couple prices and went with the guy who had the highest price but he gave the paint job I wanted. First car show 3 major sponsors, magazines ads, import videos.

i REALLY like that blue color gotnos.

my buddies dad may be able to help me do up the rust and I can probably prep the car. its just a lot of work I dont feel like doing.

I used to do a lot of body mods and things on cars and im just sick of working on bodys, id rather work on engines, and I dont know if we could do a good sunroof install or not....id be afraid to cut into the roof.

is your paintjob better then factory? I know a lot of quality is in the prep.

Color change would be cool but id have to remove the engine. if I remove the engine I want to put my 6 bolt in, my 6 bolt will cost about $2500, and if thats going in I want my built tranny which is like $2000, then the paint job thats like $2000, then all the conversion parts which is like $500.

guess I need to think about what steps im gonna do this in.

I took the entire car apart myself and did some of the body work while he did the dings and dents throughout the car. Cost me 1300 but that was because had just opened up his shop and wanted some publicity.

Color is Black with Red pearl This is before it was cut and buffed.

Color .

I think my paint job is 100 times better than factory. I clear coat is a glamor clear the reflection in it are like a mirror no distortions. It also has a mild pearl effect to it. Glad you like the color...me too. I put so much trust in my painter I let him pick the color. I went with a basic base coat/ clear coat because of repairing. I did have a candy paint job but you have to paint half the car to fix something. Go to www.alsacorp.com they have some of the coolest paints. that will give you something to think about.

to me its not worth spending thousands and thousands on a paint job if you don't plan on keeping the car for years and years...so I half-assed it and went for a satisfactory paint job.

Yea i remember reading that thread. As they/you say it depends on the maaco though. your paint looks good and im sure if you prepped it yourself it would be better, but not bad for 1k (that fender just sucks though)

was yours a color change?

how long have you had it? want to see if it all comes falling off after a big rock chip or not. I dont plan on keeping the car forever ever I dont think...well....I will untill I get a good career anyway.

Yeah that fender sucks..it may also have to do something with the way they repaired it because it had a huge ass dent in it. Its not too noticeable unless you get as close as I was.

It'll be a year next month, its sticking fine, no chips anywhere that I can see.

yeah it was a color change from white to "graphite silver metallic"

Can i get a picture of the engine bay? I want to see how goofie it would look 2 tone, because I dont know how good a car would sell like that LOL.

it does look goofy, but I don't care..I'll have to post pictures tomorrow lighting is kinda bad right now.

I spent around 10 grand on body and paint for mine...but was worth it and I will be keeping it for a long time thats why I spent that much. Plus nice to have the sponsor pooring in as well

Alright thanks ill be waiting.

In the mean time, would you guys say to repaint the car OEM red, OEM white (leave the engine bay red) or some kind of dark blue (also leaving the engine bay red)

I had just remembered last night that my old car club buddy eric paints cars now, so if I prepped it myself it would definately go to him because he painted my friend tylers truck and it looked great. Usually I just have to buy him the material and a case of beer but id give him a nice chunk of cash to make it look real good for me......so thats if im not lazy and prep it myself

and has anyone ever had a sun/moonroof installed? wondering prices and quality on that.
