Anyone know of any suggestions on how to remove that nasty purple tint that's starting to peel in my eclipse? OMG... heat gun and puddy knife works but is slow.. just wondering if there's an easier way to get this smut off.. thanks

Razor blade and lots of windex. Or you can use wd-40, it eats away at the tint and the old glue, then you'll have to windex the hell out of the windows. Also a tint shop will take it off for you for a fee.

it took windex and 4 razor blades for me. the do0d who owned my car before tried to clean the windows with windex that have amonia(spelling?) in it. it turned them purple.

take windex and soak the hell out of the windows. take black garbage bags and push up against the inside of the windows soaked with windex. let it sit out in the sun and in a few hours the tint will just peel off and if you do it right it wont leave any glue. i had cheap azz tint from autozone on my gs when i bought the car. it worked really well on the back window not having to scrap inbetween the defroster. :D

Tint is more trouble than its worth. I would just pay a Ziebart to professionally remove it because its such a pain in the ass. Freakin cops hassle you too. You're smart just saying no to tint if ya ask me

Maybe in Pennsylvania you don't, but in Texas you need the protection. If you pay for good tint it will be guaranteed not to turn purple (purple color can be caused by UV exposure overtime on cheap tint). Most pro tint places will not put on anything darker than is allowed by law on the side windows or windshield, the rest can be as dark as you want. Most cops will not bother checking unless you have done something to piss them off and they get an attitude or you have quite a few illegal mods already. Sorry for getting off subject but I think most, if not all, cars look better with tinted windows.

the real dark shades of tint usually turn purple faster
when you use windex on them it will make the tint turn
wavy and lose color, that sucks. You might be better off
by going with two shades of 20% thats what I did but
you have to be careful when you do it. On the taking it off
side if you have plenty of time and are patient just take some
blades and windex and have fun...

:thumb: I work at a tint shop and could'nt have said it better myself. Although on the back glass, check and see if you have any rear defrost lines left, if not razor blade the hell out of them. Remember to change blades if you see streaks appearing in the remover solvent. (Str8 ammonia and a little liquid fabric softner) Change blades if you hit the black ceramic border around the window (dots) they will dull the blade and dull blades scratch glass. If you have them re-tinted, make sure they use a metalized film with a lifetime warranty, and from then on, STAY AWAY FROM AMMONIA! Tint is porous (spelling?) like your skin and will soak up ammonia breaking down the glue and turning the tint purple. Depending on the year I would ask whoever you have re-tint it do make sure the back glass is in one piece. The 95-02 eclipse is a tinters nightmare. Back glass is like a fishbowl. Sorry about the long post.:shhh:

i just read this and went out and did it to my 240sx , and the garbage bags are on as you read this LOL , but i have 1 problem with ur solution its about 1 degres here in toronto so there is no sun, so do i just let it sit?
