i was wondering if there is a bar that you can buy to connect the top two harness straps to. i was wondering if its possible to do without a full on roll cage or do custum work. if there isen't then what have other people connected those staps to? dont tell me the flore either plase i dont wanna break my back.

Alot of people usually buy a rear strut tower bar and mount the straps to that with the back seats laid down. It seems like it would be a good mount to me and removable too if you need to clear stuff outta the way.

Just MIG weld a chromoly tube across your frame... Cheap, fast and it'll stiffen it up as well.

dont attach your harness to a strut brace! it isnt strong enough. if you dont want to get a roll cage buy what is called a harness guide bar, several companys mke them i think sparco has one and ioport has them as well. or you could skip the bar all togeather and just mount the harness to the rear seat bet mounts whitch would probably be the strongest and safest. when you install your sholder harness attachments remember to place the mounts at anywhere between five degrees below and 30 degrees above the driver's shoulder. if it is too high the harness cant controll your body movement as well and if you mount them too low (more than 5degrees below your sholder) you run the risk of compressing your spine in an accident, that would be verry bad. OMG

i hope this helps you decide how to mount your harness, just please dont mount it to your strut brace i can almost guarantee that it will not hold in a crash.

thanx that helps alot i will probly try to buy the bar that is made for it but if it coast too much i might just weld it myself. what have you done with your car that you have liked though buying it or just doing it yourself? which is easier ?

Threads a little old but if you didnt come up with a solution yet then I have one for you. Try www.dvdtfab.com and go to products, then harness bar. Made of either stainless steel or chromoly which is powdercoated. Hope it all works out.

You mean 5 degrees above to 30 degrees below.

Does anyone have pics of where (or how high and how far back) to weld the tube?

i know this thread is insanely old, but i'm having the same issue's with mounting my harnesses. A B pillar bar or 4 pt cage seems to be a little too close to the front seats, I could be wrong though (i'm larger than the average person, so i need the seat as far back as possible and decent recline:sneaky: ) I was also thinking of mounting a bar across the C pillar attached to either the upper rear selt belt location, or the rear seat latch. Any thoughts as to which would be easier/better, and how to mount them up?

i'm not talking about any gangsta lean here or anything, just enough to get me to fit comfortably in the cabin. If I had a fixed back seat I would be miserable. The roll cage solves all my problems and gives the seats support if they were ever to break on me.

Here is what I did on my Tiburon
