just wanted to know if anyone has fiberglassed the headliner im in the process of fiberglassing almost everything and was wondering if anyone saw a problem with doing this?i thought custom airbrushing it and making it really glossy would look really nice.youre opinions?????? :dsm:

the only way i can see it working is to do it while its installed.
If you did it out of the car it wouldnt be the right shape ( sag )

Don't know about fiberglassing the headliner, due to what mkspriggs brought up, but what else are you fiberglassing exactly? I'm planning on redoing the whole dash in my car with fiberglass and carbon fiber, just wondering what you had in mind for yours. Post some pics if you have any, Thanks.

i am fiberglassing the door panels and rear panels, and dash, i havent figured out a way to do the trunk becouse of all the little doors we have back there,im also making a custom box for my trunk which will hold 2 kicker 15'' and to 10''.i will also be doing the arm rest in the future.

I don't particularly know if it would sag, usually they are pre-formed before they go in the car. I would be concerned, although, how the backside of the headliner (the insulation stuff) would take to resin. I did see someone on this site who made a carbon fiber headliner, so it must be possible. Also I would be concerned about the fiberglass shrinking up in time and pulling the edges back or something along those lines.

For one, I don't know of any fiberglass that would change size with time... They make a lot of body kits out of fiberglass and I don't believe they change shapes. Actually people use fiberglass in order to maintain strength and it's a lot lighter...

As for the $200 ones. That's a good price, but making your own assuming you figured out a good way of doing it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than that, maybe $20 for parts, but time wise I'd say a bunch of hours, although once you get the first layer set it will be really easy from there, just probably another layer and then a bunch of sanding and priming and painting. Definitely hook us up with pictures of what you're doing, it sounds very interesting, hopefully one day I'll redo the whole interior of my car using fiberglass or carbon fiber.
