I was cleaning out my car today, and I noticed after removing the cupholder/ashtray, there's a light on the left side corner it's completely covered when the cupholder is in it's place, but whats it for? Does it have to do with the transmission? I'm thinking maybe the car might have been an automatic at some point.

Er...

Your car was never an automatic and it has nothing to do with the transmission. If you turn on your interior lights, you'll notice that you have a light on both the ciggarette lighter as well as your money tray, which you had removed.

Put out your cigarette on a date's thigh some night, and hear why an illuminated ashtray is a good idea.

LOL
my light doesnt work and i dont rememeber the last time i did, but no one is allowd to smoke in my car so it doesnt matter

probably thought it was used to light up the P R N D 1 2 like on some cars by the shifter
