Datalogger Mounting

I dont have pics yet, but I am going to mount mine on the dashboard on the passenger side on the big bubble, in other words, right next to the heater knobs, pointed towards the drivers seat, and run the cable behind the dash. I am going to make the carrier out of metal straps, and painting it black. I know this is hard to explain, but I will try to get pics when I install it, hopefully sometime tomorrow.

not meaning to bag on a custom job but ^^^^^^^ is going to look like crap. the screen is just too large. and your leg is probally going to hit it.. also the ebrake handle is going to come close to say the least..

if it were a 10inch i would way go for it but it just sits too far over on the left hand side and its too wide. i would suggest spending some money doing it properly and getting a touch screen lcd that is a 8 or 10 inch and make it look smooth.

I like his idea its completely custom and it will pry look good once he gets all the fiberglass done. I dont think the ebrake OR his leg will be too much of a problem if he builds a good fiberglass surrounding. used laptop around the house = 0$ or touchscreen lcd = 500$ I myself would go with the used laptop simply because of the software you can put on it w/o having to purchase something else to have a tuning peripheral. just my opinion though.... :thumb:

Well, I'm gonna reserve judgement until I'm finished - if I don't like it, I'll rip it out and try something else. That's the great thing about doing these things yourself - if you don't like it, all you're out is time and some cheap fiberglass :)

I just pulled that center console change/cupholder thing out and made a fiberglass mold this evening. Im gonna recess a spot in it and put a slot in the backside to hold my cord so i can simply plug it in and run the cord under my console to keep it out of site. Not done yet so i dont know how its gonna turn out but if i dont like it ill just put the stock piece back in.
