Well I have been wanting to make these for awhile now and finally got the chance. What do ya' think? Of course it is "ricey", come on now guys.
Since my Bomex kit is for the Eclipse and not the Talon I will have to switch over my headlight style anyhow and these will go nicely. I was going to make them for my Talon headlights until I switch over the Eclipse headlight assembly but figured it a waste of time.
Anyhow, I think with all the damn carbon fiber I have in the car, or soon to be on it, that this will just add to the overall theme. So it should flow from the headlight eyebrows, up over the cf hood, cf windshield wiper cowl and that flows into the cf dash and all carbon interior till the rear end...and end it with a nice big carbon fiber wing! :D Ah, I know all this cf just "kills" someone out there. LOL
I just pray that I finally get this damn car finished by summer of '05. Seems like it is a never ending process with these DSMs!
Later,
Leo

Oh, please don't ask about me selling them, I know someone will. This post is not meant a sales pitch, just something I made for me and a friend's car (gave me the headlights!!). I was happy with the results and figured some would like to see it. We all know I what I do for a living and when I do post up stuff I make for my personal car I try to keep that seperate from the other "side" of things. Just wanted to clear that up so nobody mis-inturpets (sp?) my intentions.

since ur not selling them do u mind telling us how u made them.

I'll keep it really simple, because I do make other various parts for different vehicles other than DSMs and have been undermined before. No hard feelings....but to be brief I made a fiberglass plug of the eyebrow area and shaped/shaded it till it was the shape needed, then made a few master molds from the plugs, from the molds I then pulled the cf versions which you see here. Nothing to special and the OEM headlight doesn't allow for much of any other shape/design really.
on a side note, because I do thouroughly enjoy my DSM, my hobbie somehow became my job with composites. But everything is absolutely made for my selfish self first! :p It is really hard though when I make some cool parts for my car not to try and show it to my peers, so I try and make sure it is understood. I relate it to something like this...Jon Doe puts a post up some night a set of kick a$$ intercooler pipes he made one weekend. "Holy crap those are nice!...make me a set" everyone replies. Well hell yeh, who would'nt?....but in all honesty just PM me or something, let's keep that of here. (for those that migth be getting ready to pounce I mention that)
Anyhow, get some fiberglass and some OEM eadlights and give it a whirl. Just protect the Headlights with foil or something so you do not ruin them. Get ready for lots of sanding too. Not too bad once you get into a rythm. :) Look for some composite forums like www.fiberglast.com for tips as well. There is waaaaaaaay too much to type down in regards to making plugs and molds. Better to look there instead.

Very cool Leo. Let's see them on the car.

BTW....I am loving my center armrest in CF!

:( Can a mod please delete my double post? I mis-typed a word and when editing somehow made it a double post. Hmm.
Anyhow, thanks for the compliments guys, glad you like the armrest Paledsm, you did take off the old vinyl right?
Here is a pic of the originals on my buddies car. The front lip of the hood causes a shadow over the eyelid so they might look all black with no pattern. And that 3m tape doesn't alow for repositioning, I have heard some use windex and position them while the lens is wet, hold it there till the windex evaporates....or however vinyl grafix guys do it.

I'll take a set painted white...haha

:D Can always make them with just fiberglass only!
I just think this is a better option than vinyl cutouts personally. Thanks again for the kudos guys.
As for the type of bulbs/size and such he used for the headlights...I will have to find out. I gave the projectors back to him to sell on ebay and am getting stock units.
