I was advised... by someone on this board that Krylon would paint over the vinyl interior nicely.

It did look great... nice and shiney. A month later it was still wet and shiny. It stayed that way forever. Wet.

So now I'm doing it correctly. I've pulled all of the interior out completely, and have begun fiberglassing everything, including the headliner area, and laying new carpet and new seats.

THE PROBLEM is that A. I have no idea what color I even want to paint the car / interior. After I have it all fiberglassed and have the bolt-on kit on, I would like to get the exterior and interior painted the same color in majority by a pro at a local paint shop. There are eclipses around here of just about every color, especially red... the color I wanted to go with.

So I want to know where I can find maybe a list of paints by color and code. Also... anyone know what kind of flex agent should be used with the eurethane paint on the interior? Thanks

P.S. Yes, I know that I dont HAVE to fiberglass the whole interior, it can just be sanded. But I'm trying to play around with the shape of things.

It would be ethical if you paid for it.

Or did you mean to refer to "aesthetics"? Personally, painted interiors usually make me want to lap up a saucer of tepid vomit. But I'm old and cranky, and that wasn't part of the question.

I think the interior only looks good with neutral colors like black, grey, tan all the dull colors, or a combinations of dull colors. I think if you want everything to match, inside and out, get a gunmetal color, like the color on the is300's. That would be one of the few colors i wouldn't mind being totally immersed in when i'm inside my car.

^^ I agree. If you fiberglassed you interior and then painted it red, blue, or lime green to match the exterior, it would look "too much" to most people. Nuetral colors, however, look very clean and well done. Like if you paint you interior black after you fiberglass it, it should look good no matter what you exterior color is.

Thats a big job... make sure to take pics as you move along. We all ove that kinda sh:te.

I think you should do black, with some colored accents. ( I know Im super-specific jere ) I always love a two tone. But dont get too carried away with the accents, just a touch of color. Black and silver is always A-OK!

It already was black and white.... and I tell you, if it didnt stay wet to the touch it would have looked great. I want to do mainly black and white or black and silver, but I want a small amount of color trim that matches the exterior. I've only seen a few three-color interiors I liked, so I'm kinda takin a risk : /.

The gunmetal colors are nice. I found a color called cobol in a paint magazine that looked like a gunmetal grey with a lil bit of blue. It was nice.

I can only work on this a couple of hours a night, I work all day. I can post some pics tonight, not much to see though. The car looks pretty interesting stripped though : D. I already went through with truck bed liner and did alot of the frame, it's a cheap and less effective way of soundproofing compared to dynomat.

And yeah, it's really been alot of work... especially since most of it is getting sanded by hand.... and I havent bondo'd any yet and probably wont at all. I'm very afraid of using a cheap body filler for fear of cracking. If I go through all of this and it looks like ass I'll be very upset.

Thanks for the input

do you mean Cobalt? that is a nice color.

i'm working on a 3color interior for my car. the stock dark grey, black, and some red in the mix. but i think i'm gonna go with a little gunmetal grey in place of the black in some instances. i painted a friends fiberglassed sub enclosure (that i built) a few weeks ago, and it was a really really nice gunmetal-ish color, and i have some left over. think i might try that out this winter. see how i like it.

the truck bedliner is a good idea! props. and yes, it does help. i did my whole hatch area with Plasti-Kote spray in liner, and i think it helped. and it's WAY EASY to put on too :thumb:

cant wait to see your pics

One of the coolest looking interiors i've ever seen was done in ALL black, all the carpet, headliner, dash, seats, everything was black. Then they went back with the exterior color, a nice bright blood red, and painted some of the solid dash parts with this paint.. i say the solid dahs parts because they only did it on the smooth pieces, which IMO makes it look cleaner.
I think it may have been a red pearl or something because the paint looked like it was 3 inches deep. a nice clear coat over all the plastic pieces, and it looked amazing.

I'm not sure which dash pieces you should paint the "accent color" and which you should leave black... But my personal vote is for this color scheme.

Yes, cobalt... I can't spell for crap : D.

Thanks a bunch for the input guys... I still havent developed any pics... I need a digital cam : / . I was pretty impressed with the truck bed liner thing Dev. I know it has to make a decent amount of difference, because when I first stripped the interior it echoed inside very noticably. After a few thick coates of liner everywhere it didnt anymore.

I'm not doing it because I want my system to sound louder or clearer, because it's really already pretty nice sounding. I don't know about yalls 2g's but the thing has ALOT of road noise, along with some light rattles and clankyness. I was hoping to kinda reduce that. I'm also going to do the wheel wells with either black bumper liner or truck bed liner... because it looks pretty nasty around my wheels, even when clean. Kinda had to explain what I'm talking about there, I'll post a pic.

Drive music: I'm trying to change the dash up a little bit .... playing with fiberglass. I'm think I'm going to do the top-mid-bottom thing, where the bottom layer around the dash/doors/everything else is in white, the middle trim and smooth peices and place where the passenger side airbag normally is (I'm trying to make this pertrude for a small TV pod) all the exterior color, and then the top of the dash, top door layer, and interior of the top trunk peices, all black. I would want to reverse the carpet/headliner though. Like if the dash top is blakc, then white headliner and black carpet near the white bottom. Really hard to explain : /.
