Ok, so I wanted to bake my headlight to open it up, do some nice mods to i... so I whip out this old (but still working) mudskipper of a microwave oven... which I was told would work to do it, I whipped my headlight in at 250 for 3min... left and came back when i heard the ding, and here my headlight looks so brittle... and feels like a dry thanksgiving turkey... WHAT happened???? what should I be doing???? is there any real write up for this stuff???

Take your lightbulbs out & pop the metal caps off the headlight assembly. There are about 6 or 7 on each. You put your headlights in the oven for 5-7 minutes at 250-300* & then w/ a screw dirver pry them apart all the way around until they start to seperate. Then peel them apart. They will be very hot so be careful. After your done painting, use a sealant & press them back together. Snap the caps back on & reheat. Take them out of the oven & press them together all the way around. Then let them dry. Make sure you seal them well or you will get moisture inside of them & will have to do it all over again. Use a cookie sheet but don't sit the headlight directly on the cookie sheet. Use a block of wood so that the headlight isn't directly on metal. Sit the headlight on the piece of wood & make sure the headlight isn't touching the sides of the oven. I wouldn't suggest to do this in a microwave oven.

well it was one of them toaster oven deals.. its like a mini microwave lookin thingy but it says oven on it... so i figured it should work rite?

Nah, its not the same. Those small ones just won't heat up enough space. I'm surprised you got the headlight in there. Do it in the regular oven, and i was serious about the oven mitt, the lights will be HOT

if the microwave dosnt work, try a blow dryer. thats what i used and it worked like magic :thumb:

dude this toaster oven is like the godzilla of toaster ovens, its one of them old school ones... but, yeah I want to get it apart really bad, but I suck with the heat gun... 2 burnt edge headlights down that still wouldn't come apart... THINK i am just a lil bit bad with em.

If the heats not working for you, you could use a flat tip screwdrider to pry plastic lens up from the housing a little bit, and then cut the glue with a boxcutter. Fair warning: This method takes forever, but if you're carfull with the flat tip, it should work
