F**KT up my car....i think

okay, i was outside today just messin with with my car, when then i thought id mess with my stereo. its stock, but i have an aftermarket cd changer. anyways, im messin with it for about an hour or so, and i hear a good song on the radio and i turn it up really loud and the damn thing cuts out!! im like WTF?? so i turn it down and its ok. then i turn it bak up again and it cuts out again. the weird thing is, is that on my balance dial, from one speaker to the other, i can turn it one way all the way and then turn it up as loud as it can go, and its fine, no cut out, but when i get in the middle, to where all the speakers play, it cuts out again. i dont have a clue why its doin this. well, just because im in "aww" i start to press the AC and heater buttons, and the stereo cuts out then too!! now im really worried cuz even when i let the windows down (pw), it cuts out too!! maybe the battery is dead?? the car wont start. please someone help me. hopefully i didnt short anything out. and thank you for reading this very long problem i have.

yea, thats what it was....battery was goin dead. i ran into a bigger problem tho. hot wire touched the top on the unit and it shorted out. i swear, with me, if its not one thing, then ill go and mess up another. so, if anyone out there has a stock head unit for a 97 gs, please IM me at: Implaya23 or email me there. its AOL. sorry about takin up valuable space with that stupid thread. and thanx

because im tired of my shit gettin stolen. whether its an aftermarket with detach/face or not.

i would think that it is somewhat normal....was the car on or off(engine on or off)...and what position did you have the key? i have mine in ACC, and when i go past 10 on the volume it cuts out and then comes back on....if its 10 or under, its fine....or it could just be my car is screwed up(i have a sony cdx-l250 reciever)...
