I just have a few questions...

1) Which speakers (tweeter, front door panel, rear panel) can I get for my 2G??? I know that the rear panel area don't have much space.

2) Can I fit any aftermarket stereo deck (single deck) on my radio compartment?

Thanks in advance

1. you can buy any speaker that fits the dimesions of the various stock speakers...i don't remember the numbers exactly but I know most major companies make them in the correct sizes...just remember that some speakers wont work with the infinity gold system factory amp...you'll have to replace the amp and the deck with an aftermarket deck that has output...

2. you should be able to fit almost any aftermarket deck in that compartment....some of the ones with lcd screens that pop out and what not you have to be careful with...however whatever store you go to they should be able to tell you if those will fit or not...

well, i tried to put my polk ex 6*9's on my gsx, and they didn't fit, the speaker was too long/deep. and i checked clutchfield.com and they had 6.5 inch with the install kit for the rear. but i wanna put 6*9's in the rear. so this is why i was asking...

i actually wanted to know if anyone tried any speakers that are good on their cars. but thanks for the help

Well, depends on what you want to spend. You can read all the reviews you want, but that does not necessarily mean they will sound good in your car. I have done all of my own installs since day one, so I have used tons of diffrent components, not to mention countless side projects for other people's car. You are lucky in one respect, the 1998 GSX/GST and 1999's have a plastic enclosure that the speaker bolts in to, and the enclosure then bolts on to the door frame. So basically you will get a much better installation for your midbass location then standard drop in door speakers. You can close off the rear if required, or run them free air. I recommend buying some sort of Dynamat material for the doors also. I have MB Quart QSD's 216, but they are pretty pricey roughly 840.00 mail order, over 1000.00$ in brick and mortar. So my opinion on speakers is more toward the expensive side. But you have tons of choices, Rainbows,CDT, Focals.....all have good mid range priced sets. As for where to mount the tweeter, you can mount it where you like. You will here several schools of thought on Kickpanels, as close to the midrange, (hang up the stock 3 1/2 location), upper doors. From my experience in car audio, and I have tried all locations...kickpanels are great for minimizing pathlength problemes, as close to the mid bass is BS, upper doors throw off pathlengths very badly, and Sail panels allow for the easiest install and simplest tuning. Most modern HU's have time correction, and good x-over features, so with a little simple tuning you can set up a good door/sailpanel setup. The whole " as close to the mid as possible thing" is to eliminate the phase shift a speaker makes , thats solved a lot easier by adjusting your -/+ to compensate that phase problem. I personally say it is a useless point, but to each his own.
Any questions feel free to e-mail me

SHould i take out the whole back panel or just remove the speaker screen to install my back speakers on a 94 eagle talon??

you can get a crutchfield magazine and they have a section in the middle where they have have your car listed and they tell you which decks and speakers fit:dsm:

Airpoppoff, so these speakers are pretty good? I was looking at the kappa perfect 6x9's but they will take hammering to fit. If these can take some good wattage and fit without modification I'll spring for em in a second...will 6" infinitys fit in the doors?

This looks to be a good setup for me for speakers:

6" 3-way infinity kappas for the doors
6x9 Diamond audios in the rear
10" Eclipse subs in the trunk

What do you think I should get for amps? I need one for components and one for the subs, plus a cap. Opinions welcomed...

Two words: component speakers. You get a good 6.5" component system up front and a small amp to power it and it's more than enough for most people. Aftermarket and/or amplified rear speakers really are not needed in most applications, good imaging means it sounds like you're in a live concert...and just how much music do you hear coming from behind you at a concert?

Invest in a good component speaker system for your front, a solid 2 channel amp to power it sufficiently, and a quality cd player with good sound processing and you're set. Shop online...save mucho dinero. For a decent setup this will all run you about $500....go high-end and you could be looking at $800+.

I will need an amp regardless because my head is an Alpine CDA-6995 and doesn't have an internal one built in.

You're right, I think I'll get a 6.5" component system for the front and 3-way 6" for the back. That would be ideal, I think. 6x9s will probably be more of a hassle than they're worth for the back and I just want some nice filler sound.

I think the best speakers infinity has should be good enough for me. Can someone recommend some good/high quality cheap amps?

Im having the same problem here.. just got my AudioBahn 6x9's in the mail.. we hammered some.. still wont go in deep enough.. i can get some extremely long screws and screw it in but it will stick out.. nothing fits.. guys.. dont get 6x9s.

We're looking at doing some kinda custom install.. gonna be a long road to put some friggen speakers in.. sheesh..

my blaupunkt 6x9 fit perfect
i have 6x9 3way and going for 6.5 component on the front with a small amp
