How you guys doing? Lets see if you guys could help me out with this. Well first off my car runs real hot and im trying to figure out different ways to vent some cooler air in there. For a little while i was thinking about the GreyForest idea with cutting the holes in there and putting in some mess grill. But i drive my car all year round, rain and snow, and i dont really want to get my nice 50 trim and my exhaust manifold and everything right there rusty. I have to say though i do like the way that looks but i dont like the idea of all that rain going in there. If you guys have pics of different ways you vented your hoods or put scoops on them, post them if you could please. I've been looking around through the threads but i havent seen too many ideas that i like that much yet. What i would really like to get is a carbon fiber hood with a scoop on it. I do have the money for it right now so that is an idea. Be able to get some cooler air in there and take a couple pounds off my car. So if you guys could drop some companys names or links that sell carbon fiber hoods with scoops on them that would be rad. Thanks a lot.

I don't know how effective it would be or even if it's possible but it might be fun to get some vented fenders and make them functional... something to look into..

summitracing.com has a custom made hood with a big hoodscoop in it, its wide but short, looks real nice and clean, would help get cold air in there.

Build stainless gutters under the vents. Or, park during rainstorms.

to clover it up - ya can make up a piece on vynal big enough to cover it and magnet-mount it to the hood.

IM me at TWolf234 on AIM and ill show you this pic of my friend's friend. this is the only car ive even seen with a vent like this, and it looks pretty good and works damn well. its more of a vent for the intake but it will help cool the engine and give your car much cooler air.

Here is mine. Simple: cut the hood, bend down, fill sides, repaint.

I have seen an Eclipse that has a scoop much like the one you posted in that pic.

The car was a Silver 97 GSX, had a CF hood and had a scoop very similar to that, right over where the air filter goes on 2G's. Fully functional.

I was thinking of doing that when I saw the car, and noticed someone has already done it.

Now I want a Evo 8 Exhaust heat discharge vent in a Carbon Fiber 2G hood, WITH this scoop over the air filter and completely sealed.

Thats about all I want to do in CF.

thanks for all the replys. The summit racing hood isnt carbon fiber right? I didnt check out their web site yet. From what i remember seeing it in their magazine its a pretty nice hood. Thanks for the different ideas that you guys have thrown out so far. If any more of you guys have seen or have a carbon fiber hood with a nice scoop on it, post it. Maybe a carbon fiber one thats kinda similar to the summit racing hood.

I think I may be the only person on the board with a cowl vented hood. I got a cowl vent and cut out the hood so it is fully functional. Then to give it some air force to blow out the heat through the cowl I cut 2 vents in front of the hood between the pop-ups and mesh grille is under them to stop leaves and crap from falling in. I have had it for a few months and the rain dosent cause a problem. My headers get a little dirty looking though but it is more likr when you degrease your engine how the hoses get oxidized looking. They are armor coated so it really makes the chrome look like ass. But on the highway it definately runs a bit cooler, looks cool too IMO.

Thats a good idea, but wont the water absorb into the wrap and rot out the headers? Plus they are the armor coated ones so the heat isn't that bad.

Isn't irony a bi***. A 2004 gmc sierra backed up into me at a red light because he was in a rush to go around someone and "couldnt see me". So now my front grill, lights, and bumper are tore up. I guess I am just going to do a 1gb conversion now and hope I have enough left for new paint, afterall, he's paying for it. :) Anyone need a totally custom 1ga hood?

GreyforestGST, i have to say that everytime i see your car i like it more and more. i really like that way you painted 3 inchs or so up from the bottom of your car. Looks awesome. GSXtacy def send me that picture of the hood to my [email protected] or [email protected]
