so this girl backed into me a while back, and i got about $600 in insurance money, which i found out now i should have pocketed. i bought a veilside style bumper on ebay and got it put on for a little more than what i got from insurance and the first time it barely touched the ground it broke on the side. how the hell do you lowered guys or people w/body kits keep them from gettin all scraped/scratched/broken? i'm pretty pissed off now and i'd do anything to get my stock one put back on. not to mention that my low beams seem nonexistant w/o my foglights.

ebay car products can be very deceiving....sux cuz veilside is OMG but just drive over bumps or up driveways at an angle to not scrape

thats the worst part is that i made it up my driveway at an angle which was steeper than the part in the road that it hit on. i went at an angle and it still hit. at least it was insurance money and not my own...i just wish i had kept it and left it stock. damnit damnit damnit.

btw..what do you mean by OMG ?

I heard that genuine veilside is urethane? The real veilside front alone is like $620? Ebay is a bunch of cheaply made knock-offs for the most part. Not trying to make you feel bad, but it's just the truth. I have genuine bomex front and rear, and the front has scraped quite a bit from being so low. I have also hit animals before. It is a strong piece of fiberglass. Just be careful and buy the best stuff from a reputable company, then it will last you. :thumb:

my front bumper on my 1g (bodykit) sits about 2 inches off the gound (cant get your foot under it) and i bang it on stuff alot but never broke. although i do occasionally pour some fiberglass resin along the inside lip to keep the bottom built up, as well as fiberglass along the bottom so it has something to wear off again with out eating my bumper completely off. the cheaper fiberglass bumped will break much easier, sorry about yours doing so.

it has nothing to do with having a lowered car or not really. its all about taking the time to drive slowly where you know are holes/bumps/etc etc and driveing CAREFULLY where you dont know the roads as well. also, the only reason that your front broke was that you got it off ebay. the saying is true "you get what you pay for". i have a full VIS kit and i scraped it a prety many times when i first got it and no cracks or any signs of it "breaking". my friend had a veilside front bumper and ran it into of the those parking blocks, the entire bumper was bent back, he backed up and the paint just chipped, NO cracks... its all about the "name brand" sorry to hear that you fell for the ever decieving E-B-A-Y :thumbdown

how much should i expect to pay for the quwhees wide body kit... should i add more layers of fiberglass so itll be stronger ( most kits are like 7-9 layers should i add a few more ) cuz im ridin on air ????

For me - I'm lucky cause of a previous job I had where I spent 90% of my time driving around my state. So I know most roads.

So when I take my car out now I pretty much know which roads to take and which ones not to.

And you just constantly have to remember to watch yourself when ever pulling into a driveway, ramp, parking lot or what not where they're might be an incline or something that could possible be a thread to your car.

My driveway right now is my worste enemy. And I'm only lowered 1.5"s I've already cracked my front bumper 2 or 3 times coming up it. All of which were done in the first month or two of having my front bumper on my car. Staying out late, coming home all tired wasn't the best thing to do till I got used to my front.

For me thought "Epoxi" was the cure all, and since I have my own Pray gun it wasn't to bad since I have a White car and It's OEM paint job.

if you dont want it to crack and break, buy a kit that is polyurethane.

ill buy the cracked bumper from ya, that might help out with your *DAMMIT* feeling.. little cash never hurts.

Urethane is your friend, when I hit a curb or what not it just scrapes the kit but doesn't break anything.......
