I have the Clarion VRX935VD in my dash and an X-File Audio rear view mirror with 4" monitor. I got deals on both of them. The Clarion deck I got for about $950 and the mirror I got for about $250.

under a new TX law that goes into effect sept 1st any monitor that is not dedicated strictly to a navigation system and is mounted in view of the driver is illegal. including all h/u with monitors, whether in use on the road or not (no exceptions, equipment violation)

I emails my state rep thatis up for reelection this year and asked him politely if there were anyway to correct this and explained how the screens areset up so they can't be used while driving, and if an exemption could be written or amended into the statute to make their usage illegal or the instalation in such a manner as to allow usagle when the car is in motion rather than an outright ban could be added.
he cc'd his assistant asking her to look in to it and stated he would inquire of the commision on charge if they were aware of the scope of products that they were making illegal, and if an amendment could be added.

got my fingers crossed.

if not I should get a killer deal on aug 31st!

It's already illegal here where I live that's why I pretty cautious about it. The mirror monitor I only have on either on small roads where no ones around or when its in park, other than that, it's usually off. The in dash one is usually on but I just watch out for cops. If I see one I'll just hit the close button so it'll temporalily disappear.

tewchnically here on sept 1st they can refuse to pass you on inspection if you have one, or if you are pulled over or go thru a checkpoint r whatever, or they see it at a show and you havetags on the car they can give you a ticket as it is an equipment violation, just like not having a muffler or no headlights.

well, they don't have inspection here in Nevada, as far as the rest goes I've never seen em get that strict about, probably cause it takes to much effort.

Alpine IVA-D900.

Paid about HALF of COST through work & a sponsorship through Alpine of America (and their regional distributor, First Delta Group) (not at liberty to say what half of cost is, sorry)

sorry to bring an old thread back, but i'm looking to get an lcd screen or two in my whip. I'm thinking about places to put them that are not visible when my car is off. How big can the visor screens get and for those who have them, are they easy to see? easy to install?

What are some other places to put a screen on a dsm? this is not a show car BTW

you guys are prolly gonna laugh at me but i picked on up at wal mart LOL. i got the one with the single 7 inch and the deck. i put the monitor on a hinge so i can flip it down to get to my ac-and heat controls. looks bad ass and works really well to for bein a cheepy.oh and chicks dig dvd players and screens in cars LOL.

dont they make them so they can fold back into the player?

i remember looking a while back at them. 999 was for the cheapest alpine one. but being so low in the interior itd be hard for a cop to actually see it even if he was next to you. and if you got pulled over for reasons otherwise, you could just turn it off while youre stopping and hed never know. same thing with inspection, just turn it off.

or you get the dvd map thingy and tell them its onstar. thatll shut them up.

what kind of gauges are those in ur pod with the chrome rings?

Autometer Cobalt gauges. They are the mos expensive line of autometer gauges to date, but there so damn cool.

I just picked up a 7" LCD Screen for $100.

I've come up with 3 uses for this screen:

1)primary will be to display what my Camcorder is looking at, etc (MY DL1 is mounted to my Roll Bar between the 2 seats, and will be on at all times)

2)If I know I'll be going on a long trip I might just hook it up to my Laptop so that it'll display my DSMLINK information

3)For Car show's I'll hook it up to my Xbox.
