anyone know where i can get dual filament LED bulbs for my turn signals and tail lights, looking for something different and BRIGHT.

led's don't have a filament. They do make high intensity LEDs (like inovalights) but wiring a few in series would be just as efficient. For tail lights, linrose makes som REALLY bright red leds.. 10000mcd.

Yup. Ebay has quite a few LED products. Try and get a LED that is 7000mcd or higher.

Depending on the size you may be able to find quite a large LED or wire a group of led's together.

that sounds like it would be pretty cool, but i was thinking that they made drop in replacements for the bulb size. You know something that fit in the socket like a stock bulb would, do they not make a bulb like that?
i bought one at an auto parts store that dropped in like a normal bulb, but when i went to use it as a turn signal/parking lamp, it did not work properly, thats when the duchbag at advanced auto parts said something about a dual filament led bulb. I knew i should have not listened to him.

no, no, i dont think so anyway. Those are just colered bulbs. Im talking about a setup that has like ten clear led's in a circle and fit directly into the sockets like a normal bulb, i actually had one one time, but they were the "single filament" (improper term) that only lit up one type of lighting source at a time. For example, they will light up as parking lights, but they will not light up as turnsignals AND parking lights-- like our cars have. They can only light up as one source at a time. our stock bulbs that work our turn signals, and parking lights (the ones in the middle on a 1g, and the ones on the sides for 2g) have 2 filaments in them, one that lights up for the parking lights (this stays on constantly) and one that blinks on and off for the turn signal.

LEDs don't have enough resistance to get the turn signal relay to heat up and click. I understand that they make resistors for turn signal circuits to make up for the LED's lack of load.

Defiant:
what he is talking about is an led replacement that is for a dual filament bulb as opposed to a single filament bulb. Resistors may not be an issue for him untill he gets the right kind of bulbs.

1157 is dual filament and 1156 is single filament. He has 1156s,needs 1157s
They will have 2 contact points on the base versus a single contact point.

LED or filament bulb these are not supposed to be interchanged, even though they will physically fit, because they cause these types pf problems...

I found some here just by running a search for Light bulb. :thumb: Not pimping the site just FYI ing... I'm sure you can find them less expensively elsewhere

just scroll down...

also a very informative article on this sellers's site.

FYI to anyone else:

Running all led replacements in the turn circuit will prevent the relay from cycling them off and on as others have mentioned but they will still light up from outside.
Usually the indicator will be steady when replacing all or front, and replacing in the rear only may result in a fast flash.

Some folks add resistance (load resistors) or put a bulb in the circuit again (same thing) to overcome this, this adds resistnace and creates heat. I would suggest instead to locate a replacement "flasher" relay from one of the Street rod or mini truck suppliers that can flash at that low a resistance, as well as doing what he wants which is drop in led replacements for the bulbs. It should be plug and play, and easily reverable in case Officer Friendly dislikes it, or incase you do blow an LED in BFE and have to swap in a set of bulbs, etc.

Brighter is Better b/c "Granma BlindasaBat" or "Dufus FASTANDSPURIOUS" behind you can see your indicators better and not rear end the snot out of you because he was driving into the sun at 5 pm.

I just need to see if I can find some of this led flex line stuff for my center talon insert....

Necro this, I bought a few different "1157" led bulbs off eBay, none of which were dual intensity. Be aware of this as its quite annoying waiting weeks for bulbs from China to find they don't fit or work as expected. The 1156 bulb I have in there now is a 22smd and it can barely be seen in daylight. The 1156 bulb I bought to replace it was actually a1157 bulb socket. This bulb doesn't work at all when plugged into the tail light socket of my 91 so I guess the polarity is wrong? I didn't mess with it seemed to be more trouble than its worth.
