London,
hey guys i really want to get a camaro ss style hood scoop on my 93' tsi, but what do i do about that big bump on the stock hood???????? should i just get a shop to make me a new hood and mold the hood scoop on and paint it??? so how shhuld i get rid of the huge bump???????

Yes all it has is the design that you see on it. There is no hump as you can see? But i wonder when it rains where the water goes when it hits the hood?

Damn then that a must when im doing exterior on my car.. it will get rid of that nasty out of place hump.:D

Out of place hump? Don't you know that hump is called a sex bump? It looks good IMO

I love that "power bulge" :D

That hood won't fit turbo models because it will hit the cam covers or something under the hood. Somone did make it fit though, after some modifications... like banging something with a hammer OMG

Yes you either have to remove your timing cover or "modify" the hood.

No it doesn't the rain will not hit anything vital that will hurt the car unless one drains right into your filter then that could be bad

Ya that sounded

Ahhhh I like the sex bump/power bulge...it's what makes the eclipse an eclipse...although I do like that look...

modify the stock hood perhaps to have those vents but keep the bulge?

ok, i always thought the hood hump was for the timing belt cover on the 2.0L engines, but after looking at some pictures of some 4g6A engines, the timing belt is on the other side, but the hood hump is not.

so does the hump serve any real perpose?

4g6A? You must mean 420A, the CryCo motor that is in the 2G RS and GS's.

The hump on the hood on those cars does serve a purpose. Since the hump was required on the GST/X, they had to incorporate it into the design of the sheetmetal. Even though the hump is not required to clear the TB cover on the NTs' it was cheaper just to produce one style hood, instead of tooling the production machines to produce a humped hood, and hood sans hump.

The EARLY(90-91) 1.8's had no hump in the factory hood, but the later 1.8's had the same hood as all the rest. One must assume they simply used the same hood to save money.

what part/parts cause the need for the large bump on the hood? I'm just wondering, because if they are heat generating parts (like the turbo) that seems like a prime spot for a big ol' vent.
