I am clueless without audio, so bear with me. The only good speakers that I know of are MB Quarts. I read that you can't really get that bass bass sound without real subs. But I would like something that would replace the front and rear speakers that gives good sound quality and some nice bass without the subs. I used to dj so I am kind of picky with the sound ;)

Lots of them will, but you have to have some sound dampening materials (such as Dynomat or Quiet Kote Spray that I used) behind them to absorb the resonance. It will increase sound output in general, but bass too. Also a respectable power output amp should be used. NO and I mean NO Stereo deck puts anything more than around 20 watts of power. Ask any respectable Audio Tech...they'll tell you the same.

Look into getting some kickpanels for your car Q-forms makes them for like 200 $ a pair you can put a 6.5 component set or make your own its cheaper but hard to do. also I know a lot of people rip on JBL but at my old shop we dealed them and the bass from those was better then the bass from the MB-Quarts which we also dealed. check out the Jbl 2 or 3 ways at your local shop. also people dont know that JBL and Infinity are made by the same company and materials.

Like said previously, look into a "good" component system along with a substantial amplifier. How much money do you have to work with here for the whole deal?

I'm not looking to spend a whole lot on a system. I am not looking at too much high end stuff. Something on a budget that sounds clear and crisp with some good bass. Just something to replace the factory ones basically.

Well, keep in mind when buying car audio, you get what you pay for. A decent component system is going to run you anywhere from $150+ and you will probably be looking at an amp that does atleast 75w RMS per channel (2 channel). Do you have a price range in mind? Maybe I could make some suggestions...

Ok, personally, I would go with one of these component systems:
http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/MBQDSD216
http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/FOC165V
http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/CRYCPE60

And then something like this amplifier:
http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/JBLP1802

If you find anything at SoundDomain for cheaper elsewhere, they will beat the price by 5%. Here's what to do for the best possible price using SoundDomain's price guarantee on the products:

Focals are less @ http://www.woofersetc.com/woofersetc/shopexd.asp?id=531
MB Quarts are less @ http://www.woofersetc.com/woofersetc/shopexd.asp?id=2160
JBL amplifier can be found less @ http://besttoys.org/p180-2.html

I actually have the Crystal component speakers that I showed you above and like them very much. You will also need an 8 gauge amplifier install kit which you can easily find for $15-$25 on e-Bay, something like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1394303589

Should be able to easily pull the whole deal for under $400 with shipping. Goodluck!:thumb:

A speaker can create bass one of 2 ways.
1- large cone (15's make more bass than 8's)
2- long travel (distance the speaker moves front to back)
If you have a 6.5" speaker in your door, you will have to get tons of travel to equal a 12" in your trunk. Most factory stereo's create their "bass" in the upper ranges, like 60-150 hertz, where most rock and organic bass guitar resides (think Wu-Tang clan, not DJ Magic Mike). Guys with subs in boxes are aiming for the 20-60 hertz range, the stuff that shakes yer A$$, but only hits when listening to The Chronic, etc. So, I recommend you try audiobahn or polk for the true low sounds in small speakers, they seem to hit both organic and synthesized musical sounds. You will not achieve the bass of a properly tuned 12" with the same wattage as 6.5"'s, but the small speakers can give you healthier sounds without rattling your spare change. Oh, check the Car Stereo Cookbook, it has way better detail than I do :D

First thing to change is your headunit.... That is what will really make the difference... I went from stock everything to a new head unit.... the sound was soooo much better with a new headunit and stock speakers....but then of course, later i got the speakers too.. but for real, a headunit is step one from that stock crap.

im looking into a Polk set up, componets and possibly even subwoofers if i hear some good stuff about them , any links or possible feedback? :)
