Bought some KYB AGX shocks and Tein S-Tech springs and put them on 225/40/18 wheels. I forgot to add one important factor when I bought them though, my trunk houses 6 subs, amp, capacitor, etc. Dunno how much it weighs, but I'm sure it's not light. So what ended up happening is my rear dropping really low.

Before I even realized it, the metal in my wheel wells cut my rear tires pretty bad. Next day I hammered it a bit, but still have to bend it in some more, just have to find a bit of time (barely have time to post this here).

Well thats one part of my problem, the wheels hitting the top of the wheel well. The other is the alignment... I went ahead and added some washers, it seemed to of helped... however the wheels are still awfully slanted inwards. I guess I'd need a camber kit afterall, or maybe there is something else involved as well? If I should go for a camber kit, which would you guys recommend? (ebay has a lot, $180 front ones, $80 rear, expensive!) And would it be best to get some for the front as well? It's aligned good in the front, however I was thinking about lowering perhaps it further due to it sticking up so far... Another problem area. :-/

Some things I was thinking of doing to fix this...

camber kit
switch rear springs to some stiffer ones, maybe Tein H-Tech (suppsed to lower only .8")
new dampener?

Here's a picture so you guys can see the condition:

Please help! Everday I have to drive 40 minutes to college and back and everyday I see less and less of my tire (the wheel well seems to just burn it off when taking turns, used to cut it before I bent it a bit). Thanks in advance! :)

The spring rate of the S-Techs is really low. I bet if you take out all that steoro equipment you will lift the back end of you car up considerably. I would suggest pulling that stuff out for now and see if you car lifts. If it does, you need a stiffer set of rear springs. (I have the same set-up and when I put a lot of stuff in the trunk, the back end of my car rides real low)

Hope that helps,
-Jacob

Jacob,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Well I can't really take the stuff out of my trunk because it's pretty much apart of the car. It would take all day to take out and I don't want to risk scratching anything anyway during the process... :)

What springs have a higher spring rate in that case? I'm not familier with any sites that tell you that information. I was thinking of changing the springs and going with H&R Sport Springs as that would help lower the front, but then the rear is the most imporant and I dunno what rating of stiffness I'd require.

Oh and also I was thinking about perhaps getting a lower tie bar or whatever it's called to help me out a bit while cornering. My base RS doesn't have any sway bars in the rear. :-/

Duno, but that sounds like some shity springs. A good set shouldn't do that. Thoughs did that because they are just a softer spring. A GOOD spring will be wound less, but stiffer to compensate and weight will have about the same effect as it did with the stock ones, it will just be lower to the ground.

I say sell them and get a better set of springs.

Yeah thats what it looks like. I just need to know which now.

Also I dunno what to do about those wheels being so misaligned. After I put the washers in the shop that aligned my front wheels said the rears look fine. However I dunno what their smoking (I just think their lazy and don't want to check my rear) but they don't look straight if your looking at them from behind.
