I know some things about body work.I have a 90 Talon tsi AWD and it has the wrap around wing.So I removed the center wing piece(on the hatch)there are 8 holes where the screws are and a golfball size hole where the third brake light wires go through.I want to put an after market wing on the hatch and leave the side ones on.(Haven't seen it yet).If I fill them in with fiberglass will the wing have enough support or will the filled in holes just fall apart because of the wing shaking.Sorry so long....Help!!:talon:

you must weld them up.. if you try to bondo them up they will just crack and fall out within a week.. you need to sand.. weld and re paint.. a BIG pain in the ass.. but if thats waht you want to do... do it the RIGHT WAY.

also i really dont think those side pieces for the wng without the middle piece looks good.. i guess it may depend on the wing but if it some type of alum. wing.. please reconsider you idea ;)

Put your stock wing back on & go trade out your hatch with one off a wingless 1g then mount your new wing.

Or - even better - SELL YOUR CAR - & go buy a Honda with a bigass wing on it.

You can use a piece of fiberglass matt and a piece of fiberglass cloth as a backing. After it cures fill with body filler and sand flush. Welding the holes with a metal patch is best, but not necessary with such small holes and it not in a structural place. The hatch and body panel will not expand enough to crack the fiberglass backing.

I disaggree with the above statement. The metal on the hatch is not very thick. With a larger "wing" spoiler, it will flex enough to crack any bondo or fiberglass. Definately get them welded shut. Thats how I did mine. If you're gonna do it right, do it right the first time and you wont have to worry about it in the long run. :thumb:

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I have a related question. I have a 95 TSi and I am considering upgrading the whole body to be like the 2gb talons with the higher spoiler. Will I have to weld up the holes as well? If that is necessary, then how much do you think a body shop would charge, since I am not a welder? I would just sell it and buy a 2gb, but they are so hard to find.
