All the sudden after I replaced my starter, Now my radio resets the clock, presets, where it was playing last everytime I turn my car on.

I know there supposed to reset when you disconnect the battery...but shouldnt it keep track of time and presets afterwards though?

I know this is in non performance mods section so if this is the wrong forum sorry.

The only thing that keeps your time and presets when the car is off is the constant 12v wire. Sounds like your isn't hooked up..... Thats the only reason time and presets would reset....

how do u know which wire it is. my car didnt have stereo manual. (JVC stereo)

id go on there web site or call .. if crutchfield sells them... they may be able to tell ya. that wire prob has a fuse inline, so if ya have any wires with an inline fuse disconnected.. thats prob it. also check the inline fuses.

Easy fix! If you have an aftermarket JVC deck, then your constant 12v power wire is the YELLOW wire and the ignition power supply wire is RED. All you have to do is connect the YELLOW wire to any constant power supply in the vehicle and you should be good to go. :thumb:

newbie question here we come!

what would be a source of constand power i can connect it to besides having to take it directly to the battery?>

The ECU is right back there, and it has 3 different power supply wires. Pin # 12, 13, and 25. Here is a link to the diagram.

You could also run a wire from the fuse box or the old fashion way... directly from the battery. Any of these will work, just do whatever is easiest for you. :thumb:

is the diagram the same for a 1g?

the previous owner has 2 red wires going from the radio to the fuse box attached to the radio fuse.

theres another single black wire in an empty fuse slot. i have no idea whats what anywhere on my car. the wiring is all ghetto, electric taped, and all over the place.

It sounds like the previous owner ran wires from the fuse box to the CD player and he ran 2 ignition power wires instead of 1 ignition and 1 constant. That explains why you cannot keep memory (ei. presets, clock, etc..) If one of those wires is going to the red wire in the back of the deck, then leave that wire alone. But you have to connect to yellow wire to a constant power supply to have things work like presets and the clock.

i took a closer look today. the black wire isnt connected to the radio. the yellow wire from the jvc radio is attached to a redwire which goes to the fuse box. the other red wire goes directly from the radio to the fuse box. It stopped working a couple weeks ago, but was working prior to that.

Ground out the black wire. Take out the red wire from the fuse box, the one thats connected to the yellow wire. And run that to pin # 103 on your ECU. I garuntee it will solve the problem. :thumb:
