Dont really need an A/F guage if you have an EGT. Fuel is always a good one to have as noted by L2RTSiAWD.

Look for a fuel gauge that has a sensor that plumbs into the fuel line, with wires that run into the car.

To answer your question, NEVER plumb a fuel line into the inside of your car...

-Yes, by using a sending unit, mount by the fuel source.
-EcLiPsEgSt97, don't waste $ on those blinking LED A/F gauge, get an O2 voltage gauge instead.

-You can read about the O2 voltage gauge here

-If you want the blinking LED type A/F gauge, this person sell the more informative version.

-EGT gauge you need to gauge and the temp probe. it's better to get them as a kit with all the hardware.

Get the EGT w/ probe and wire in a kit.

Get an Oil pressure gauge (elec.)

If you get a Fuel pressure gauge get a mechanical and mount it under the hood this will save you from running back and forth while adjusting fuel pressure.

My $.02,
Joe

What gauges are useful?

Like the title says. I've been searching the forums in this site and 2gnt, but can't find anything specific. I have a stock (except intake) 2g RS, and was wondering what gauges would be useful for me to have? EGT? A/F Ratio? Oil Pressure? Fuel Pressure? etc... Sorry if this has been covered before

None of those gauges would be of use to you, unless you just want them just for show.

No I'd much rather spend it on stuff that adds power. Was just wondering if any of those would be useful atm. Thanks

EGT nope, no need unless you are running a added turbo setup or n2o
A/F nope, see above
Oil Pressure nope, not unless you are worried that you don't have any oil pressure or you just want to keep a eye on it.
Fuel pressue nope, not unless you changed your injectors or fuel pump for the means of adding a turbo in which you will need the a/f and egt gauges

The only gauge needed would be a volt gauge since DSM's all have charging problems. You can make sure you are charging at 14v.

Haha voltmeter. I don't think any 2gnt has "charging problems".

Anyway, save your money IMO. Get a S-AFC, digital A/F, and EGT and lean it out if you want.

top three gauges to buy

Im thinking about getting a triple pod a pillar for my car. I was just wondering what are the top three like boost gauge, EGT, and like air/fuel or oil pressure? Something like that I was just wondering what people have. what they like and what is the cheapest to buy.

Those are the right three. Pass on any blinkey lights. If your were to go with four I think I'd go for a Fuel Pressure before a water temp. The stock WT works as well as anything to alert you to a problem and that's all you need it for.

Autometer is always good and accurate and some of them can light up red, such as the sport-comp series.

Most series of Autometer gauges come with several light bulb "condoms" that alter the lights color, most common are red, green, and blue.

Depends on how much your want to pay. Autometer is the best of the cheap guages, the rest like Apex'i and greddy are much more expensive but very nice looking.

Recommended gauges? What should I get....

I'm getting my second DSM tomorrow, and have about a grand to drop into it right now. I already have a full exhaust system I can install on it, so that will be taken care of. Since the car is coming to me all stock, of course I will need an mbc and boost gauge. On my first dsm, the only aftermarket gauge I had was a boost gauge. I had planned on getting any other gauges I needed later. I am looking to get any guages I might need in the future right now, and getting them out of the way. My ultimate goal is to get this car into the low 13's or high 12's at least, but for now just high 13's will do. Anyway, I don't want to get just a boost gauge and have to get more later, so I was planning to get a 3 guage a-pillar with an EGT, air fuel, and boost. Basically my question is this: are these the only guages I should be getting, and do I need any others, or do I not even need some of these gauges. I probably will go ahead and get autometer ultralight. Any recommedations, or am I doing the right thing? It seems the guages usually go for about $50 each for boost and air fuel, and the egt is a little more than that. I was just going to get them from here :

http://www.turbotrix.com/parts/misc.shtml

The prices seem pretty decent.
$70 for the guage pod
and $50 each for air/fuel and boost
I probably will just get the EGT from somewhere else.

I appreciate any help, I'm just looking to build this car up right. Thanks.

Boost and EGT. You don't need an A/F if your getting the EGT gauge.
