on an external wastegate, for the port you would normally hook up a mbc to (i think it is vaccume), if you choose not to hook up a mbc at first, would you just leave that port open to atmosphere in the engine bay?

No there is one hose that goes from the turbo, or intake manifold to the WG. That is the only line that an MBC would go on. So if you don't have an MBC then you need to hook that port up to the turbo or mani or else you would not be limiting your boost so it would overboost.

heh. right, the boost port on the wastegate goes from the wastegate to the compressor housing on the turbo. but the vaccume port, as i understand it is left open until you want to use a MBC. i called up turbonetics and they said that the bottom hole is connected to the compressor housing and the top hole is for any boost controller.

hrm...i wonder how that works.
